courtside
Spring Soccer: SLU 1 Indiana 0. Spirited game. Nice crowd. Festive atmosphere. Good work. 4-4-2 (both) SLU played 17 players. (2 of the 6 2023 Freshmen are on campus, +4 transfers) All six new players on campus played. Goal was Easton 5 yards out, from Konincks, top of the box, after a failed IU clear on a set piece corner, midway 1st half. Konincks, (diving save) (Wrobel post and over the goal) (Mika over) (Coppola wide) One elite save from Hart for the clean sheet. SLU dominated the run of play in the first half. IU evened it more as the game progressed. A few missed opportunities in the final 18 for SLU to build a bigger lead in the first, and in parts of the 2nd. Pretty even 2nd half. IU pressed late for an equalizer. ……………. Former Billiken Patrick Weah, and former SLU commit Devin Padelford will be available subs for MNUFC vs stlCITY tonight. And, 2023 SLU commit Carlos Leatherman has been starting in the defensive midfield for MNUFC2. They play Sunday night vs St. Louis City 2 5pm at City Park. ……………. Last week’s 1-1 draw vs Tacoma (Seattle). Equalizer came from a pass from 2024 SLU commit Braydon Sellers to Khi Joyner: https://twitter.com/stlcity2/status/1640147031799767041?s=46&t=E04ZsVSyt3e-dkgEZGAK4Q Palazzolo started and played 66 minutes Klein played 90. ……………… Gremio14, BuiltFordBills and SLURadioBoy like this

This is why patience was suggested last year when discussing some of the pro SLU players. And it’s also a testament to some of the player development going on in MLS Next Pro. Putting in the work, player development, adjusting to the next level up, is where some of the good stuff happens. Becher, Schulte, Jeebs, Parker, etc… It’s like Spring Ball for SLU, player development and evaluation, seeing who can play where, working on different things. etc…

I trust he is on their MLS2 team. Has Keller appeared for Austin since his ill-fated match against City?

Has Keller appeared for Austin since his ill-fated match against City? Parker, Jeebs, Keller, have been going back and forth between the first and second teams in order to get more playing time, similar to what Becher, Schulte, etc have done as well. Again, having an interest in the development process, instead of just who is playing for the first team, can be a rewarding experience. Keller will be fine. Cowboy II
-not really a soccer guy but I follow our teams, I see the success Becher is having, let's get way ahead of ourselves (or maybe not) and he becomes the best goal scorer in MLS, does that get him looked at by Europoean teams? The European teams are looking at younger players, if he would make USMNT that would give him a better chance.

wgstl
Didn't know this. From MattBakerSTL "This is such an incredible clip. Manu doesn't just break the news that #AllForCITY pursued SLU alum Simon Becher (pre-breakout), but that if it weren't for Niko Gioacchini being available in the expansion draft, it might have become a reality." SLUBALLS
SLU beat Kentucky yesterday 1-0. Fun game that was delayed a couple hours due to weather. KY was number one seed last fall in NCAAs so it was a good test. New center back transfer - Diego - from Campbell is a beast. New freshman - Cole Dougherty - already has a D1 body and frame. Think backline will be fairly solid with Max and veteran left back transfer from Indy manning the line. Don’t have much given I was talking with parents of my club team a lot while my boys were ball boys. brianstl, SLURadioBoy, slufanskip and 2 others like this

Don’t have much given I was talking with parents of my club team a lot while my boys were ball boys. Diego is a high level, very experienced center back who will start next to Grady. It took a little while last season, but Max found a home at outside right next to Grady. He is a natural defensive midfielder and center back. Lawson has been the most healthy at outside left. Gallen is now healthy and playing, after sitting out last year with injury. And, he’ll be ready for the Fall. Carlos has been playing a lot of defensive midfield for MNUFC2 instead of outside back. And, he might even play on the wing at SLU too. Buendia, Townsend, Johnson will all play in the defensive midfield. Sullivan is also is a midfielder. (Rapids 2/Academy) Cole has been playing on the left wing as there has been more of a Spring need there. He can play a lot of positions including center back. Seth, Mads, Jack. Tanner too. CJ, Matthew. Axel, Kevin, have been playing up top. Marcos will play there. There are a few others that can push for time as well. Mason is gong to play in goal.
