Pistol
I'm a little late on this, but... Thatch had 22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and a block on senior night as Sikeston beat Miller Career Academy. Miller defeated Sikeston last season behind a big night from Javonte Perkins. Sikeston hosts Chaminade tomorrow in a makeup game; they were cancelled a few weeks ago due to weather. I don't know yet if CSPN will carry a stream of the game, but check that link and Twitter if you're interested tomorrow night.
Pistol
Pearson was named to the all-region team, and was also named Player of the Year for Region 5: The name immediately below his is one to know, if you don't already. Zion Harmon is a freshman PG averaging 33.6 points a game. He's a 5-star recruit with every blueblood in the country recruiting him (he visited Kentucky twice before playing his first HS game). As much as I hope he stays home, he'll probably end up transferring to a basketball factory at some point because that's just how things go these days. But man, he's a talent. He'd probably be Region 5 POY if he weren't a freshman and Pearson weren't a senior. Anyway, John Hardin begins the District 17 tournament tomorrow night against North Hardin. North shouldn't be much of a threat, but the winner of the Central Hardin-Elizabethtown game could be a bit of a challenge.
Pistol
It was mentioned in another thread, but Gordon posted 18 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in a 68-67 loss to Hazelwood Central. He was 6-13 from the field and 6-13 from the FT line. Ramey didn't have a great night, with 14 points, 1 assist, and 7 turnovers. He was 1-5 from 3, and no one shot particularly well for WG. Cameron and Shaun Williams had 27 and 20, respectively, for Central. Webster Groves hosts Kirkwood Friday night and starts districts at Oakville on the 27th. Pistol
Sikeston claimed the SEMO Conference regular season title on Tuesday night with an 85-70 win at Jackson for its 8th conference title in 11 seasons and 13th win in a row. Sikeston (23-1) picked up yet another revenge win from a team that beat them last year, and will have a chance to do it again tonight against Chaminade, who they host in a makeup game. Thatch had 27 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, and no turnovers. He was 9-15 from the field and 7-7 from the line. He hit 2 3-pointers, including one that banked in as he was fouled, and he converted the 4-point play. A stream for tonight's game is available here, if anyone wants to check out Thatch against my alma mater. Should be a good one. Pistol
Thatch had 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in his final game at the Sikeston Field House, an 81-68 loss to Chaminade. It was tight through three quarters (tied 55-55 with 1:27 left in the third) but Chaminade ended the third with a run and Sikeston went cold in the fourth. Sikeston is now 23-2 entering districts, and as the top seed will play the winner of Dexter (17-7) and Ste. Genevieve (9-15) on the 27th at Dexter, the district host this season. District 1 is in a horrible spot again this season, as Hillsboro is in D2, St. Mary's and Confluence are in D3, and Vashon is in D4. This means the top 3 teams in Class 4 - and 5 of the top 9 - are in the same quadrant of the Class 4 sectionals, and only one can emerge. There are a few other good teams out there, but the rest of the Class 4 bracket is pretty lame and it's hard not to imagine a team other than whichever of these District 1-4 teams gets the semifinals spot winning state. Pistol
North Hardin took the air out of the ball last night against John Hardin, but Mickey Pearson's squad escaped with a 49-44 win in the District 17 semifinals last night. Pearson finished with 13 points, less than half his average. John Hardin plays Central Hardin this Saturday for the District 17 championship. JH has beaten Central twice this season, and neither game was close. Third games are always dangerous, though.
