Local people show up to see local talent.

That is true if you are coming back for a game.  I am not sure they will attend all the home games just because the kid stayed hom

They will if we're good.

The best we ever drew as a program was when the team had good homegrown talent.  Even in the Claggs and Highmark first season we averaged almost the same number of fans as we did the first season we made the tournament with Majerus.  That Claggs and Highmark season we went 5-23.

How do you account for the Spoonhour affect?  He was a big PR guy.

Yes.  The resurrection of Billiken basketball did occur during Grawer with the help of Roland Gray and Monroe Douglas (both graduated high school 1985) and then supplemented with Anthony Bonner (high school 1986).  Our best years were in the late 1980's and the crowds were good at the old Kiel.  Here's a link of our records.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Louis_Billikens_men's_basketball

Even after Gray and Douglas graduated, we were still a good team in 1990.  Grawer's problem was that he could not qualify Craig Upchurch, he then took some high risk players to replace Gray, Douglas and Bonner and guys like Melvin Robinson, Carlos Skinner and McGlother Irvin underperformed and quit on Grawer.  By then, we won only 5 games in Grawer's last season (1992) and we won only 12 games in Spoon's first year (1993).  The crowds were not there in Spoon's first year year -- but they started coming in his second year (1994).

Talen Horton-Tucker

SG, 6-5, 220

Chicago, IL (Simeon)

Offers: DePaul, Northwestern, Iowa State, Mizzou, Loyola-Chicago, Toledo, UIC.

Interest: SLU, Creighton, Michigan State, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Cal, Tulsa, UTEP, Bradley, UWGB.

Latest News: Tucker put on a show at the Chicago Elite Classic, leading Simeon to an upset win over Gonzaga Prep (DC), with 26 points and 14 rebounds. He recently visited Northwestern and Michigan State.

Scouting Report: Horton-Tucker is a big shooting guard who plays more like a power forward, forcing his game to the rim on the offensive end and rebounding strong at both ends. He has drawn comparisons to Jordan Goodwin but may play more of a forward position if he keeps growing. He’s a good student and has long-time ties to Northwestern assistant Patrick Baldwin, but has also been out to visit Michigan State, where he’s been three times, Mizzou, and a couple others.

I hope gordon is not watching this year. Just need to make it to November 2017.

Does anyone really think Ford managed to recruit all those guys and get all those transfers based on anyone currently on the team? The obvious pitch was "You'll start from day 1" or "You'll easily get at least 25 min/game the minute you suit up for real." When life Crewsplatts on your head, wipe it all off and start clean.

I believe you are correct.  Playing time is key to getting kids.

SG Will Richardson received an offer today

Will Richardson

SG, 6-4, 175

Hinesville, GA (Liberty County)

Offers: SLU, VCU, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Georgia, Arizona State, UAB, Iona, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern.

Interest: Butler, Creighton, Wake Forest, Clemson, Illinois, K-State, Texas A&M, Stanford.

Latest News: SLU, VCU, and Iona are Richardson’s latest offers. He was on campus at Georgia earlier in December. A constant triple-double threat, he has filled up the stat sheet this season, particularly in the points column, most recently going for 54 in a game.

Scouting Report: Richardson is a high-volume scoring guard who scores on every level. His stock has exploded since the start of this HS season. He rebounds his position well and racks up assists playing alongside Auburn-bound Davion Mitchell and a very talented supporting cast that won a Georgia state championship in 2016.

Is that a new name?

Steve is it possible to "pin" Pistol's list to the first page of this thread? Perhaps that's already happening and I'm just an idiot.

I can update the initial post with the current list, similar to what Go_Bills does with the media thread. That's a good idea. I'll do it tomorrow sometime.
