From VCU's board:

"as for our "style" of basketball.....that poster must be more inbred than most Missourans to not realize that Jordair Jett is basically a narcissistic cannonball with dreadlocks.

their 3pt specialist is a tiny little turd named Austin McBroom....he looks (and dresses) like the love child of Justin Bieber and Eric Andre AND makes Kendal Anthony look like Rob Loe.

Speakin of Rob Loe, for a 6'11" dude....he's softer than the fine wool on a New Zealand Polwarth. Oh, and if you wanna heckle Mr. Loe at the FT line, just bleat like a Dorset Down and all the blood will rush down to his genitals. Very common response from young men from Aukland I'm told."

"You are thinking of Dwayne Evans, McCall is the midget point guard."

From a psych viewpoint what this guy is doing is to display his insecurities by ridiculing the other team. A very common defense mechanism if I may say so.

Ok, I'll play...

Pray SLU sweeps VCU this season because you're about to graduate 72% of your scoring and no longer have a Hall of Fame coach recruiting guys. We lose 32% (meaning we return the most scoring at the top of the conference) and bring in the nation's 12th-ranked recruiting class that includes three top-100 players (all 6'7 or taller), including top-50 small forward, Terry Larrier. Hell, our lowest rated recruit of our four-man 2014 class is ranked higher than your best incoming player.

Moral of the story: If SLU remains in the A-10 we will own you guys. If you move to the Big East you will join Butler at the bottom of the conference. Either way this is the end of an era at SLU, so better get all your smack talk and shots in now.

Yes, we graduate....you, lose.

Interesting that you make a big deal about the rankings assigned to your recruits compared to SLU's. Go back and check the rankings that were assigned to our players from this team, last year's team and the team before that. Then check where we were ranked last year and this year (13 in AP last year and 12 this year). Majerus had an eye for talent that not many have, I will concede that. However, don't underestimate Jimmy Crews in terms of seeing potential in players that might not be top 100 recruits. Great coaching can make up for lack of 'stars' in your rankings. JC is a very good coach (Sporting News Coach of the Year). I don't think you will find many on here that will claim we will be a top 25 team next year. Next year will be a transition year, but you better believe we will be at the top of the conference in the years following.

Gimmick= a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or business

While not the first or only team to run a full court trapping defense, which in itself is not a gimmick the fact you guys (VCU) give it a name and put that name on everything to attract attention and publicity (which is great marketing) is what makes it a gimmick.

Full court trapping teams match up terribly against teams like SLU. Im sure you guys can win the A10 when we leave though

Natty:

VCU disgraced itself last year in the first round of the NCAA's.

They played a weak MAC team, Akron, that was missing several key guards, one tried to play hurt and couldn't.

So little man Shaka pressed the whole game, it was sportsmanship at it's worst. Yes, they even pressed the last 5 minutes, until 0:00.

88-42.

Mickey Rooney height Shaka pumped his fist in victory, and phony hypocrite fraud celeb Spike Lee stirred the pot and gave his fellow height challenged friend a lot of publicity. Sickening.

I laughed my ass off when Michigan took VCU apart the next game, 78-53.

Shaka is a one move coach, and VCU only plays outstanding ball when the refs let them get away with their thug-foul-everyone-in-their-path approach to defense.

If the refs call the game fairly, that decreases their chances dramatically against a good team.

And if the opposing teams have strong ball handling guards and some good ball handling small forwards to help with the press, VCU's probabilities are also lessened.

And Shaka will be outcoached by many... in this situation, against Crews, he is in WAY over his head. (yes, another short man joke)

Shaka cannot coach half court offense, he is overrated, so VCU has no decent offense in the half court, and playing a weak schedule VCU sure, looks attractive, but unless the refs let VCU smack us around VCU should struggle. Another concern is if one of our three ball handling guards --- especially JJ or MM --- get into foul trouble.

But Shaka is going against a well coached disciplined club, on ESPN national TV so I do not think the refs will let VCU go helmet to helmet on "D" and thug their way through us.

So go back into you hole, Natty.

The guys you have NOW were probably ranked higher as recruits than Anyone SLU has on the floor. Yet all SLU does is beat you. Funny how that works, especially given VCU's vaunted "system."

Very entertaining read. Is this what it's like to have a little rivalry with someone?

It's a nice little rivalry. We hate Richmond, ODU. SLU fans seem to hate us, and you guys have been atop the conference these past two seasons, so I dislike you a bit, but there's no hate, you're just the next game. Mason keeps trying to be our rival, and most recently GW started talking smack.

Maybe you guys need a good marketing word like "havoc" to bring out more hate in the opposing fanbases.

And f Wisconsin.

The problem with having a catchy term like "havoc" is that it is so easily turned into a punchline when it doesn't work.

You don't need marketing when you just win.....

I can't tell if you're trying to be funny, or serious - so you have failed at being either, but I'll respond. The Akron coach used to be Shaka's boss, they still speak or text everyday. Pressing is what we do, and the younger guys off the bench, that's the only defensive philosophy we have. Wish we'd mix in some zone from time to time, but I've never led a team to the Final Four, so that's why I'm posting on the internet and not coaching.

"Calling the game fairly" is in the eye of the beholder. SLU plays great physical defense, but the same could be said of you guys. If the Big Ten type teams played with SEC officials, everyone would foul out. All of college basketball depends on matchups and who's refereeing.

Lastly, an SLU fan is accusing VCU of playing a weak schedule? All the best teams we have played on the road, or neutral. Our home schedule is pathetic, but we're undefeated. We have the A10's best true road victory at Virginia.

VCU is one of 8 teams in the country to advance in 3 straight NCAA tournaments. Good luck Saturday, you're at home, coming off a week's rest, so you shouldn't need it. VCU plays 3 Thursday/Saturday turnarounds in conference play, we were given no favors.

Jett is finally going to pull off that monster dunk. I don't know who he'll dunk over because VCU will have to try about 4 of their "great" defenders on him before they realize that he can't be stopped. Hopefully it's Weber though. The dunk will be so massive that Weber will just bench himself.

Then 2 weeks from now, SLU will clinch the A10 Title on your court and instead of showboating and dancing on an opposing team's court like VCU would, SLU will just shake hands (if your players stick around for that) and then enjoy it in the locker room.
