slu72
I thought 11 was our best shot. Inching closer and closer, however. Our gains will be small considering the teams in front of us have cache. A loss will drop us more spots than any Ws will move us up. But we're not going to lose, are we. Then we have a week where we go on the road to win two tough games and only get moved one spot. Still, its all good and we've set a new modern day hi-water mark. After we beat VCU this week and someone else loses we'll move up again.
brianstl
I would have a hard time dropping MSU and Cincy behind us. They all have more impressive wins and lost on the road to good teams. ISU jumping us after only beating TCU is a little strange. Based on our complete body of work, I think the voting polls have us slightly overrated right now. That said, I think this team has a higher ceiling than last season.
Dwayne's_World
Of course Duke jumped 3 spots for beating mediocre teams. One of those wins was at home.
BillikenLaw
I predicted 11. I figured we'd be jumped by a team like Iowa State. Not surprising. A win over VCU this weekend should get us there.
slu72
This is all positive. What's more positive is we're higher than a lot college hoops royalty, ie UL, KY.
DoctorB
look at the teams ahead of us and tell me, seriously: who should we jump? Michigan State, for example: yes they lost but would you seriously think we would be the betting favorite on a neutral court??? do you think we'd be a betting favorite over any of those teams right now?? (Wiz??) Iowa State, I cannot say. are they that good? have not seen 'em. other than that -- #12 sounds about right. for goodness sakes, we are ahead of Lville and the dreaded KY jelly boys. it's just a poll! even so: on a neutral court, would we be a betting favorite against Lville, for instance?? so one way to think of polls is appearances: who would be the betting favorite on neutral courts?? flawed but effective interpretation.... Quality Is Job 1
I think for Iowa State to jump over SLU shows a lack of respect for SLU and the A-10. SLU's wins last week were better than ISU's.

brianstl
ISU moved up because of their win @ Oklahoma St. a week ago. You're right, that was on Monday. I was thinking it was a weekend game before last week's poll came out.

If our winning streak ends by double digits @vcu, should we drop 6 spots or more?

Taj79
@kshoe -- you asked in a differnet thread. There it is. Iowa State did beat Okie State but who isn't these days. Didn't see that serioulsy coming to overtake us. Not enough to jump five spots when TCU is your only other evidence. Still, I though maybe 11 and certainly top ten given what shaked out. But the rankings are just a work in progress, as is this season. I like the idea of the last ten over what happened in Maui in November ---- when Dayton won the national title for the first time this year beating Gonzaga and California but NOT winning the Maui Invitational. They was robbed ---- again.
Pistol
I thought we might be 10th or maybe 11th. Still, 12th is our best ranking in a long time, right? And we might crack the top 10 with a win vs. VCU and a couple losses above us. What does Wichita State have to do to get out of that #4 spot? I think they've earned 2nd by now, even if voters think they'd lose a head-to-head game with Arizona or Florida. It should be based on performance. As for Cincy, I think they're playing above their heads. They have a Louisville-UConn-Memphis stretch in a few weeks, and I could see them losing another before that.
