AGB91
Did anyone else hear Franck C. talk about Northern Illinois not letting Sean out of his scholarship? According to Frank Sean has graduated and would like to go for his masters. NIU doesn't offer a masters in his field so Sean asked for a release. If granted this, he could use his last year of eligibility at another school. Ricardo Patton the head coach and the A.D. will not grant him his release. The NCAA says they can't force them to release Sean. Where it gets interesting for Billiken fans is on Kevin Slaten's show while bashing Patton and NIU for their actions. He mentioned that Sean would be coming to SLU because a masters is offered in his field. Does anyone have any additional information on this? Sean would be perfect as a one year back-up for Willie and help ease Loe's transition.

Seems like they are sticking it to the kid now. Then again, I'm just going off a gut instinct without knowing any facts.

moytoy12
Where's his scholarship going to come from (assuming he actually were to come)? assuming femi isn't playing because of injury, there would be 1 open, which i think most on the board assume would go to Paul. bauman
Where's his scholarship going to come from (assuming he actually were to come)? it would be great if Steve could put this at the top of the Board so we wouldn't have to go over it on a weekly basis. Sch. by Class Jr. BC KC WR KM Soph. CS CE CR Frosh. JJ RL DE MM Transfer-not eligible this year JB If one is available when school starts and only IF PE It seems pretty clear that a sch. is available if needed, in which case Paul E would not get an ath. sch., but would likely qualify for an academic sch. If NIU does not release him from his scholarship, he would have to pay his own way for graduate school.

JohnnyJumpUp
If he transfers some where does he not have to sit out a year? If a student-athlete wants to transfer and immediately compete as a graduate student, the college or university they are transferring to would need to seek a waiver, because in most cases they would have to sit out a year before competing under NCAA transfer rules and would not have any remaining eligibility. One of the factors our members have determined is appropriate for a graduate student waiver is if the transfer is academically motivated. SShoe
why not?Kowal has already graduated but NIU doesn't offer his graduate program. Therefore, under the NCAA rules, he could transfer to a school that does and be eligible this year.
Box and Won
Makes you wonder if he really wants a master's degree in theology, or if he just wants to play for SLU for a season and is willing to use NIU's lack of a theology degree as his ticket out of DeKalb.
