He was a starter on a 22-11, NET 66 team in a competitive West Coast Conference. I don't see a down side here.
But no he is not the rebounder nor rim protector I believe we still need.

I’m not certain about this, but many grad transfers/post-grad seniors that SLU has had have been enrolled in a program called Certificate in Organizational Leadership, or something like that. In at least one situation, I remember reading that the program doesn’t actually start until some point in the season, which effectively allows the enrollees to be “enrolled” in an academic program to be eligible, but it allows much more flexibility in scheduling.

You missed "for young players who need googles." Sorry, it's the wannabe editor in me.

Rebounders, Shooters and Rim Defenders/Shot Blockers
ISU took 50% of their FGA behind the arc.  On the roster today we have four 36% three point shooters and one 39% shooter.  Need another high 30's / low 40's.
With today's roster, I'm not seeing where the boards are coming from.  Avila 6.6 and Thames 3.7 lead the pack.  It would be nice to have someone who could average 8 or so.
The 45 total blocks last season from our current roster isn't enough.  Last season the Bills had 101 blocks, which wasn't sufficient.  Neither Thames (4) nor Hughes (3) showed much blocking the rim. Avila had 24 blocks, Jimerson 7, Casey 6, Swope 1 and Dotzler 0.

Great city. Met some great people. My now wife moved up for the last half of my time and had a great job there. Thought seriously about staying for the long term but the homeland was calling the both us. Very affordable. A lot of fun things to do. The CWS was my favorite week of the year--highly recommend to everyone. I love Hermann but Morrison has to be the coolest in the NCAA. Its been a while since I've been back but unless anything has drastically changed their facilities are pretty much on par with ours (barring the soccer stadium and baseball stadium) and they've been BEast for 10 years.

If you don’t care about his performance at Creighton, that’s fine. One or two may care about what he did last season. He pretty much has a clean slate coming here.
But thanks for your thoughtful feedback.

Welcome Josiah! Best NE player his recruiting class on a very good HS team. I follow Creighton closely (med alum). His family is very involved in serving the Omaha community and brother played there. Surprised he transferred given his ties, but I think he saw playing time limited. They have the best BEast recruiting class/one of the best in the country and will be active in the transfer portal. I think he will fit in just fine here!

I looked at Verbal Commits Transfers for the following; I don't know anything about the metric used to valuate each player.  If you are curious about the metric, contact SBUnfurled.
GW: Castro, 6'11" F Providence, Hansen 6'9" C Cornell, and Moss 6'3" PG William & Mary
Loyola: DeLoach 6'9" F Georgia (2 yrs at VCU), Moore 6'3" PG Drexel, and Nwaokorie 6'7" F UC San Diego.
You would need to get their stats from previous schools.  The only one I am familiar with without looking anything up is DeLoach.  First, he was on Schertz recruit list, and second he was pretty good at VCU.  At Georgia he was a bench player.

Negative. Just repeating what Coach Schertz said on the Press Box this morning.

Swope played on one leg the second half of season.  Was averaging 20 ppg before he got hurt.
Pikaar has great range and passing ability.  Not strong enough yet to guard an A10 post player.  Good rim protector.
McCo - combo guard.  Needs to work on his defense and his motor.  Has NBA potential.
Jimerson, Avila and Swope all left $$ on the table by coming to SLU.  Working hand in hand with Chris May on NIL issues.
2 recruits on campus today, 1 more tomorrow, and 2 more Thurs through Sat.  Both transfers and HS in these groups.

There are still 6 open scholarships.  But yes, still need rebounding, rim protection and someone to organize the offense.
Forget the 1-2-3-4-5 designations.  With 5 out you play ball.

That is the more valid point.  Just how many really good P5 teams are going to want to play us, home or away? The answer is none, they don’t need to schedule a team like us (they all saw what Shertz’s team did last year, after all). A neutral sight game like this, with the extra TV money thrown in, is one of our few chances at a really good non-conference opponent. Travis Ford, for all his faults as a coach, was able to get teams like Auburn to play us in a home and away series with his lifetime of connections in D1 coaching.  Josh Schertz, with his time in Indiana State and D3, doesn’t have those same connections.
What would be nice is if the St Louis Sports Commission would offer some cash to help get good opponents to come here (either Chaifetz or Enterprise Center) to play some games and draw in fans and attention.

Based on all the players they have returning and the addition of a former player who averaged 15 points a game for them 2 years ago, Santa Clara will be a preseason top 50 team.  It's not a sexy matchup but it is a potential Quad 1 opportunity.
  19. Old guy liked a post in a topic by HoosierPal in November 4th Game?
Using last year’s team ranking is meaningless. How many of Santa Clara’s players hit the portal?  Who did they bring in?
If the Billikens can jump from 185 to a two digit ranking many other teams can also. Wait until the rosters are set before speculating on the strength of a team.
It’s a new world out there. Throw past trends out the window.

Scherzer mentioned this on his Coach’s interview show with Rammer. He said it would be a significant opponent.

The Tate discourse is kind of dumb because there were hardly any posts about the other assistants upon hire. We just assume they are all fine/good because go Schertz. Same with Tate

I stated elsewhere that hiring Corey Tate was the best decision Coach Ford made during his tenure.  Tate has good relationships with the top local high school players and top juco players in the region.  I'm pleased that Coach Schertz recognized his value and retained him.
