Orange Julius
From what I understand SLU got a verbal commitment from Rodney Alexander. He is a 6'7" 220 pound athlete from Redlands CC. I don't think the Bills have had a player like this since the current staff has been here. He is a 3/4 and he was sought after by a variety of schools including Big Ten schools. brianstl
We can all take a deep breath and relax a little. Good news, thanks for the info again OJ.
Westy03
Does this put an end to the Leon Powell recruitment?
TheRaginCajun
I love you OJ, thanks for the update. I remember him being in town for his visit and I asked what people knew about him and those who did had a lot of great things to say, good addition from what the posters on this board have said. One poster said he was visiting Wisconsin the week after being here.
brianstl
I wouldn't think so, they are two classes removed from each other. Here are a couple of links on him: http://www.madison.com/tct/sports/uw/index.php?ntid=91780 http://www.madison.com/tct/sports/uw/index.php?ntid=91780 One talks about Wisc. following him. SLURadioBoy
Does anyone have a scouting report on this guy? "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. Our hymn shall ring, in tribute strong to you, We hail Saint Louis U." Official Billikens.com sponsor of Andrew Latimer
Scoop
On the Redlands site, it states he was a freshman last year.
Quality Is Job 1
Wasn't Coach Walker an assistant at Redlands?
Box and Won
Yep, before he went to Ball State. Nice work, Jamall! Thanks for the report, OJ.
davidnark
Here is a picture of him: http://www.jucohoops.com/pics/rodneyalexander.JPG According to juco hoops, "6-7 Rodney Alexander of Redlands Community College ranks as one of the top junior college prospects in the United States." kwyjibo
Dave Telep at Scout.com had this to say about him in 2004: "The Michigan Mustangs are not very talented this year. However, they have a potential mid-major combo forward on Rodney Alexander who is 6-5 but plays like he’s 6-8. He’s crafty and a max effort guy. …" I like crafty. Hardball
Congratulations to the staff. Finally a committment. Jamal sounds like a good addition to the current roster, athlectic and plays bigger than his stated size. I also like the fact that he is a maximum effort guy. Hopefully some larger schools may have passed on him due to his size and that can be a great motivator. Can he shoot or is he more of a rebounder type.? kshoe
Assuming this is true (and OJ has always been good on his info) this is great news. Is this the guy that visited Wisconsin a few weeks ago?
Quality Is Job 1
Rodney Alexander. I only mentioned Coach Jamall Walker because he was an assistant coach at Redlands, where Alexander is currently.
ACE
I agree. This sounds like an outstanding addition if true. I only wish we had gotten a player like this to play alongside Ian for this year. As I stated in the spring, this is exactly the kind of juco player I thought would have been a perfect addition to last year's recruiting class. Dang it! Oh well, let's hope the three frontcourt frosh exceed expectations this year.

TheRaginCajun
I just went to check out Redlands and I saw a couple players of note. The first one being 6'7 forward Ty Morrison. He had originally committed to Mizzou and then withdrew once Quinn resigned. He was one of the top rated JUCO's and is now at Chreighton, he is supposedly a guy with NBA ability. The other name I recognized is Vaidotas Volkus a 6'8 forward from Lithuania. This kid is at the University of Missouri playing for Mike Anderson. Just some names of note who played with our future Billiken.
tseugnekillib
Maybe SLU directs a couple of local high school kids of interest to Redlands College in appreciation for getting Rodney Alexander. SWIC has two players this year from Milwaukee.
3star_recruit
Jeremy Felton would be a good fit. Leon Powell would be even better.
