kshoe
from the Georgia Athletic Site. http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/082610aab.html Thanks for posting. I can't believe SLU wants to go head to head with all these big football games. http://espn.go.com/college-football/schedule/_/week/12 Seriously, although it is early in the season a Saturday night game against a top 40 SEC school should draw well (or as well as you can expect in early Nov when nobody but the diehards is thinking about college basketball). Pure speculation here, but looking at the remaining dates I have a feeling we'll play Missouri St. Sat Dec 4. Look for Jacksonville or the other TBD buy team to be Nov 16/17 with the other one scheduled for Saturday Dec 18. The MSU date could also be the 18th I suppose. kshoe
Bet the MSU game is over break. Always is without fail. Good point. A few years ago it was right before Thanksgiving but generally you are right. So lets say the MSU game is Dec 18. That means we will have have played 5 buy games, Georgia and @ Portland prior to the Duke game. Sure would be cool to go in there 7-0.... They got some players and have been listed in a couple of top 25's. Very athletic with a stud PF. Just the type of team that gives us trouble. Be a nice W for us if we get it. HusakAttack
Decent test???? They are picked 3rd in a strong SEC this year and I have seen them ranked in offseason top 25 rankings (I believe by Katz but I know it was on espn.com somewhere). That would be a big win, even at Chaifetz. There are 2 legit pros on that team.

With 13 non-con games 10-3 should be the minimum to be considered "on-pace" for an at-large bid. By on-pace I mean an 11-5 record in conference would likely put us right at the bubble. 11-2 would be much better. With the almost sure loss at Duke that leaves the UGA home game, the @ Portland, @ MSU and the 3 Cancun games as the most dangerous games that we can only afford 1 or 2 losses in. Gotta beat Georgia at home!

MusicCityBilliken
Went to the UGA game in Athens last December. You could see Fox (formerly with the Univ of Nevada) is a very good coach. He will have them ready and it will be a good early test for the Bills.
bauman
The SEC hopped to it, all the smaller conferences have done it- when is our freaking schedule coming out?! Pistol-as I understand it we are not publishing a schedule this year. You will be able to piece one together by reviewing all other D1 MBB teams' schedules. That seems to be working since we have just about completed our OOC schedule on the front of Billikens.com. I guess it is too much for us season ticket holders to expect, that we would know what we are buying before having to send our $$$ in. Heck, I'm not even sure how many games we will be playing at the Fetz Fieldhouse.
Hawk
The SEC hopped to it, all the smaller conferences have done it- when is our freaking schedule coming out?! IIRC A-10 is releasing conference schedule today. MOST schools (and for whatever reason SLU doesn't fit in this sometimes) released their non-con when the conference slate was known. e.g. the day the SEC released the conference schedule, UK, UGA, etc all released full schedules. Thought it was to be today. mhg This is insane. What's the hold up? How does everyone else know their entire schedules and we don't? Why can't the A10 get it together sooner? Most of the gyms in this conference aren't second-priority facilities, so it's not like we have to wait for hockey teams, circuses, and Lady Gaga to finalize their dates first. Bauman is right, we just have to back into it. Every year it gets later and later, even though one would think this process would get more efficient over time. Here are some previous schedule releases (and this is just on SLU's official site; they may have leaked elsewhere sooner in some years): 2003-2004 non-con schedule (7/10/03): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/071003aaa.html 2003-2004 full schedule (8/27/03): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/082703aaa.html 2004-2005 non-con schedule (8/3/04): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/080304aaa.html 2004-2005 full schedule (9/2/04): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/090204aab.html 2005-2006 non-con schedule (8/8/05): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/080805aaa.html 2005-2006 full schedule (9/2/05): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/090205aaa.html 2006-2007 non-con schedule (8/8/06): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/080806aaa.html 2006-2007 full schedule (can't verify date) 2007-2008 non-con schedule (can't verify date) 2007-2008 full schedule (9/6/07): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/090607aaa.html 2008-2009 full schedule (8/26/08): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/082608aaa.html 2009-2010 non-con schedule (8/27/09): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/082709aac.html 2009-2010 full schedule (9/3/09): http://www.slubillikens.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/090309aaa.html 2010-2011 schedules: pieced together from opponents' team sites and press releases. Since we have limited dates available (Nov 16/17 and Dec 4 are the most logical dates for the Jacksonville game and the TBD opponent) it can't be super-easy to find a team that can fit that date. Until that game is set, 11 of the 13 games of our non-con schedule will be available only on billikens.com.

As of 9 days ago, we have one more date to fill and haven't been able to find anyone willing to come to us. As time goes on, my concern is, that we schedule another D-2 team just to fill the date for the season ticket holders.
Pistol
Regardless of whether we have a date or two still to fill in the non-conference schedule, I'm frustrated as to how long this process is taking. There is a lot of time over the summer to get scheduling done. And that also doesn't account for why we can't see the A10 schedule- are they not allowed to release that until each team's non-conference schedule is finished? MB73
"This is insane", "frustrated"... etc? It's no big deal, hey, just wait for the schedule to come out, what diffrence does a few more days make? No need to over react, get all hot and bothered. Perhaps Majerus is working on one more solid home game for us, and it will be good news. Not too worried about it here...
MB73
The GA Bulldogs will be a decent test for us early in the season. Georgia will be very tough, a few NBA prospects, SEC athletes, etc. I have SLU + 6 bet with Atlanta friend who went to University of Georgia. Loser has to wear the other guy's school mascot cap for 18 holes at Arizona golf trip in March. I like my chances.

Have the rest of the A-10 teams released their conference porttion of the schedule? If not, it must be an A-10 decision and not a SLU one. If so, we could surely figure out our schedule just by looking at the ones that are already released. Signguy: I think you have everything as up to date on the front page as possible SLU 72fan brings up a good point. If we can't find a buy game for the one remaining open date, we may have to schedule another D2/D3 team like Rockhurst. Teams are allowed a max of 30 D1 games (26 plus one exempt tourney). With an exempt tourney of only 3 games and a D2 opponent, we'd have only 28 RPI eligible games. It shouldn't make a difference for the committee as they presumably are smart enough to not simply look at the total number of wins, but still I'd rather play 29. billiken_roy
well this is a topic that i dont get too excited about. now if i was an "on the fence" guy trying to decide if i was going to buy tickets or not for this season and it depended on if we have 7 buy games or 4 buy games if i went through with it, i might be a little irked (i have been trying to work irk into a post for awhile now. at last). but the truth is we all buy the tickets blindly every year anyway and we know we arent going to have any truly "big games" in november or december that we have to block all other events no matter what, so i just take the whatever attitude on the schedule release issue. i actually have gotten a lot of enjoyment each season watching billikens.com sherlock holmes our schedule before it is officially announced. the solving mystery is really a beautiful thing to watch evolve. Pistol
Don't get me wrong, I have my season tickets for the third straight year now and it has not been based on opponents or home schedule; I would get them no matter what. I just don't like that we're looking at a week into September before hearing anything official, and that when you look at the trend over time, the schedule announcement gets later each year. It's not just because I'm impatient (I am), but because I also like to travel to road games when possible. I might be going to Duke this year, and possibly Missouri State. The odds are even greater that I'll go to Xavier and Dayton, and maybe even Duquesne. So it helps to know as soon as possible whether these are going to be weekends or if the A10 is going to ###### us by putting the driveable games on weeknights. Because I'm getting married in Cincy next summer, it helps even more if we can know well in advance if we can double up a planning weekend with a baskebtall weekend. I can't be the only one who likes to know the schedule as soon as possible so I can plan travel, can I?
