Well it started in Fairfax, VA  (vb) then to Richmond (ws) on to Myrtle Beach (mbb).  Then it was baseball in Port Charlotte, FL, Millington, TN, Hammond and New Orleans, LA.  On to Edwardsville, IL (wbb).  Now at the A10 Tennis Championships in Orlando.  Amazing complex.   #4 seed men playing in the quarterfinals this morning against Mason.  The ladies play tonight in the semis.   They are the #2 seed and #1 VCU was upset last night.  I don’t think either SLU team has ever made a regional.  That would be really cool.  

Numbers aren't that impressive, but he was highly thought of coming out of high school and has played in a Final Four game.

Toward the end of last season, Thames showed an ability to drive into the lane and then pull up over a big to hit a ten foot shot.  I hope Schertz sees that when reviewing film and encourages that aspect of his game.  If so, and if he improves his three point shooting, I think Thames could have a big breakout season.

I'd put Thames over Dotzler tbh - I think Thames could make a leap this year. He is an athletic freak who figured out his shot.
Plus, he was a 1 in HS and has solid court vision, so I think he'll fit the pass and move offense incredibly well and really break out. His trouble has been that he doesn't really have the ball-handling to go with his vision, but I think that the more ball movement pass & cut oriented way that Schertz's team runs (versus dribble-drive) will be to his benefit.

I personally think with the Schertz offense I watched in the NIT, we don't need a pure point guard.   They get out and run and everyone is moving even in the half court.   
Assuming Schertz will try to implement the same offense we need speed and shooters.   A lot of dribbling is a fail.  All need vision and passing skills and unselfish attitudes.  

We need whatever Coach Schertz thinks we need.

That is the more valid point.  Just how many really good P5 teams are going to want to play us, home or away? The answer is none, they don’t need to schedule a team like us (they all saw what Shertz’s team did last year, after all). A neutral sight game like this, with the extra TV money thrown in, is one of our few chances at a really good non-conference opponent. Travis Ford, for all his faults as a coach, was able to get teams like Auburn to play us in a home and away series with his lifetime of connections in D1 coaching.  Josh Schertz, with his time in Indiana State and D3, doesn’t have those same connections.
What would be nice is if the St Louis Sports Commission would offer some cash to help get good opponents to come here (either Chaifetz or Enterprise Center) to play some games and draw in fans and attention.

I don’t think we’re in any position to whine about our opponents. We haven’t proved anything yet. 

Based on all the players they have returning and the addition of a former player who averaged 15 points a game for them 2 years ago, Santa Clara will be a preseason top 50 team.  It's not a sexy matchup but it is a potential Quad 1 opportunity.
