  1. This is really remarkable, but to keep getting minutes he has to shoot better than 1-11...
  2. It is very exciting to see him hit the game winner... (especially after that Dayton game where he missed the last second free throw)... but man he sure didn't shoot well overall last night... 3-12, 1-7 from 3, 2-4 FTs... But coach must value his presence on the floor despite the single game of poor shooting. He played 30 minutes and got minutes at the end when it was close!
  3. Just a reminder before we all get too excited about ratings and rankings and polls. In 2020-2021, with everyone's favorite coach, Ford, we were ranked as high as 12th on barttorvik's statistical website on December 20th.... and we still missed the tourney... Let's not count our chickens before they hatch...
  4. I just realized SLU basketball got 6 points in the coaches poll and 1 point in the AP poll this week! Let's GO!!!
  5. I think the difference between the Ford teams (individual recruits) and this Schertz team (a system with talented individuals who fit) is the underlying metrics and style of play. It was easy to get excited about Ford's individual recruits... but Schertz built a TEAM that so far has demonstrated via metrics that they can compete. (I do understand our SOS is trash, but the underlying metrics are good, we are overachieving based on spreads. Metrics and consistently beating spreads is a marker of a truly good team imo.)
  6. If anyone cares, according to barttorvik.com's team cast tool, we would be a projected 5 seed if we won out. We won't win out though. The odds of stacking that many wins in a row are slim to none tbh. So basically, the Wiz doesn't think we will make the dance unless we win the A-10 tournament, which I agree with, sadly. But it would be typical SLU luck (or just Ford luck?) to be first team out.
  7. Should we actually be concerned about 3 players being suspended? Is there any truth to this? If so, who besides Dion Brown didn't play?
  8. They will be eligible. *Jedi hand wave*
  9. Yet, he may go down in history as the most successful SLU coach of all time... 1.) Made the round of 32 two years in a row 2.) National coach of the year 3.) I think one of his teams had a top ten ranking at one point in time. Sadly, none of the above will likely ever be repeated at SLU... I personally still am torn between liking him for his successes or hating him for never allowing SLU to return to that level. Honestly if SLU had hired an outside candidate instead of Crews, we may have lost some of the team and they would have played a different style which likely wouldn't have led to as good of results those 2 years...
  10. I agree with Willie that McCottry will likely be a starter Quentin Jones definitely has a chance to play himself into a starting role. If Thames miraculously gets healthy he'll definitely start. We know Anya may not be the top option but he started last year and knows the system, so there is definitely a chance he may start at the beginning of the year if it takes Otieno a bit to learn the system. It appears we have plenty of options. (Caveat: I always seem to feel this way during the preseason... and I seem to always be proven wrong.)
  11. Seems like an impressive addition! Go Bills! He scored 19 with 10 boards against us on 11/25
  12. McCottri could be a solid starter and could potentially be more than a role player if he returns. Anya will likely also start.
  13. As much as I love Goodwin and hope he gets a standard contract, this series of plays by Goodwin on 3/8 vs Boston would make even me hesitant to sign him sooner than I needed to. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DdujEwHgiDVI&ved=2ahUKEwjp_tDD1YOMAxV4AHkGHSvjLGYQwqsBegQIJxAG&sqi=2&usg=AOvVaw34XyRYfgNdu3cSniIOWN4j
  14. If that happens, Ford had 2 nba quality players on the same team and couldn't make the tournament. Another way to look at it: Ford had SLU's all time leaders in points (Gibson), assists (Collins), blocks (French), and steals (Goodwin) all on the same team for TWO straight years and couldn't make the tourney...
  15. I just don't understand how we are this bad. Statistically, we have 3 of the best 5 players in SLU recent history(since 2008). I know injuries have been a problem, but I assume team chemistry is also a problem (Larry Hughes II leaving points to this). Still with 3 players this good, we should be better. If injuries and chemistry improve quickly, we could be better, right?
