Big week for the boys. Two home day games against Minnesota Tuesday and Wednesday at 3pm and 1:30pm respectively. UMass comes to town this weekend 6pm, 2pm and 12pm start times.

Fun note on Minnesota: they play their early season home games at the Viking's US Bank Stadium.

They just announced cancellation of the Minnesota series. I'm assuming due to weather. This is a big time blow to the strength of schedule if they can't figure out how to reschedule.

FWIW, strength of schedule is only good for the fact that the team gets better by playing better competition.  A-10 is a one bid league in baseball.  SLU would have to basically win out to have a chance at getting an at-large bid.

Is it a one bid league by rule or just by the fact that a10 blows goats? Couldn’t they theoretically run through a gauntlet schedule and put themselves in position for an at large.

The latter.  A-10 brings the SOS down drastically.  A-10 has 8 teams over 150 RPI, including 6 in the 200s.  The best is Fordham at 84, worst is LaSalle at 274.  Slu is currently 93.  The coaches do a great job of getting quality opponents on the schedule but almost every non-conference game would probably have to be top 50 opponent to offset that much.

Interesting. I probably knew a lot of that and just forgot but thanks for the info.

It really is a shame the A10 is so weak in baseball.  The Bills do a great job of trying to schedule better teams but there are only a few weekends available to do so.

The C-USA was tough when I played, we didn't have facilities the team does now so it made it really hard to compete.
