  1. Even though someone said the attendance was announced at just shy of 1600, it was great to see everyone decked out in Billiken attire…most of it Billiken Koolaid blue. They also got excited and made some noise!! Roll Bills!!
  2. And it's not just the men's game. The number of monitor reviews last night in the women's game against MoSt was absolutely ridiculous. Made the game go almost 2.5 hours.
  3. For me the difference in the game was the free throw shooting by the Bills down the stretch. Started the game 5 for 11 from the stripe and we looked like we couldn't throw the ball in the ocean if we were standing on the beach. After that however the Bills made 21 of their next 22 which helped them not only get back in the game, but ultimately take the lead.
  4. I have to say, I'm a bit confused. If the band is a volunteer group and the commenters on this thread are members of the band, then I don't understand why, if you/they were so unhappy, in some cases for many years, why you didn't just quit. And if you're not part of the band (former member or not) then I'm not sure what purpose you're serving by coming here to badmouth SLU, Athletics, and the AD. Based on the comments, it sounds like there are band members who are still interested in playing and doing their part to create a memorable experience for the fans. As an avid basketball fan since the early 80s, I've attended games at many different schools and the SLU Band is definitely one of the most enjoyable pep bands around. That said, if there are issues (communication, expectations, scholarships, etc.) that need to be sorted, IMO that should be left for the remaining band members and the new director to sort out with the Athletic Department. Not sure any one else's opinion matters...especially not the ones of those who've elected to move on.
  5. I don't know how to verify the stat, but I vividly remember that one of our teams in the mid 90s, perhaps 95-96, had 4 dunks.....FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON!! That's obviously a stark contrast from the 4+ dunks that we were seeing sometimes PER HALF this year from the Bills.
  6. Great thread. Have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. And if Gus is going to say “Chick-fil-A” EVERY time we go to the line, even though we may have only converted 2 or 3, I’m gonna lose it.
  7. Ah, Donnie Dobbs. One of my favorite Bills ever. Dude was like 4’2” and played forward like a beast.
  8. Apparently VCU is on a 12 game winning streak of their own....so the games this weekend should be a battle.
  9. From Weather's perspective, since a claim of sexual assault was reported, one had to have been committed, right? And since I can only assume that JG didn't appear in the consensual sex video, that by process of elimination he had to be the one that committed the sexual assault. It all makes perfect sense.
  10. Hey...can you blame the guy?? Since he writes stories to vilify, the questions he asks are going to be in that same vain. Not defending Ortiz, because I agree that he's a d-bag for asking Ford those questions. Just trying to be realistic. Unfortunately there's going to be at least one like him in every crowd.
  11. Furthering on my earlier suggestion, they could have "tryouts" in the practice gym before/during the game to ensure that contestants are "qualified" and meet a promotion's requirements. That would eliminate contestants like we had last weekend.
  12. My buddy suggested that at some point, when it became glaringly obvious that he couldn't "throw" a basketball farther than 25 feet, that he would have had a better chance if he resorted to drop kicking it. Not sure where the "Billiken Basketball Promotion" suggestion box is, but I have one. Since SLU is so adept at creating surveys and questionnaires, they should make one that all potential contestants have to complete. And the first question needs to be...."Have you ever, like seriously, in your life, and we mean EVER, shot a basketball?" If the answer is no, then you are immediately disqualified from any promotion involving a basketball. Note to SLU: If you're going to have promotions that you want people to watch, please select contestants that actually have a chance to win. Maybe that's a bit discriminatory, but I want to see the people win...or at least put up a good effort.
  13. If that guy came with a girl, I guarantee she left with someone else Saturday night.
  14. Since that hasn't happened even one time in the past 5 months, my recommendation is to NOT hold your breath.
  15. I've been doing my best to follow the thread this morning and I appreciate all of the comments/discussion points....but what I keep coming back to is that only one of the original penalties was reduced. Seems strangely odd. If what we all believe/know is true it just seems to me that at least one of the other accused would have had a good enough case for a reduced sentence as well. That said, I did hear that JG was never mentioned by the accusers in any of the reports. As a result, it's possible that during the investigation he was truthful and admitted being there, but since he wasn't identified as being involved he had a stronger case for a suspension reduction. This might also explain why he was allowed to play.
  16. 60-90 minutes? I read your official Title IX "review questions/answers" as well as the "decisions to deny the appeal" in about 60-90 seconds so let's get on with it. :-) That said, I do agree with 05 that it's not surprising that the appeal is taking longer than the recommended 10 days for the reason stated.
  17. Likely the case, but if the players truly committed the heinous acts that necessitated the upholding of the lengthy suspensions/expulsion, why wouldn't SLU continue to pursue the lowering of the hammer to ensure awareness regardless of where they end up. Wouldn't that be the right thing to do given today's climate? If SLU negotiated and gave the boys a way out (i.e. withdraw in good standing), it seems to me that they just want them gone.
  18. That was probably Weathers' doing in an effort to make their life as difficult as possible until the punishment decision could be rendered.
  19. Based on how the whole situation has been handled (i.e. secretly within the confines of the Title IX office), I'm fairly convinced that the athletic department has been in the dark and completely blindsided/victimized by everything thus far. I would surmise that even if the athletic department wanted to be involved that they would be stonewalled by Weathers and Co. because of a conflict of interest. As a result, Ford is just as dumbfounded as the rest of us and unfortunately will be left to pick up the pieces when the program crumbles. P.S. If the basketball program is left in a state that it no longer can support the remaining non-revenue sports, does SLU have the option to, and will they, cut other sports as necessary?
  20. I think this is a fair point, and in fairness SLU's feminists did try (albeit feebly) to gather statistics a couple weeks ago with their own survey, but "unfortunately" those efforts were skewed by some triggered MBMs.
  21. Wow...all these people were in the arena with her...filming her perform. Doesn't she have a reasonable expectation of privacy?
  22. Unicycles need to be held to a higher standard than other cycles and shouldn't allow themselves to be put in that position. Even though Red Panda planned the entire routine in advance and the unicycle thought it did nothing wrong, its days of unicycling are numbered.
