brianstl
His Ramblers have reached the finals of the CBI. This year was Loyola's first post season appearance in 30 years. It might be time reexamine Porter as a coach.

brianstl
Great recruiter not so much an Xs and Os guy He recruited well here. He has raised the level of recruiting at Loyola. That said, that team isn't exactly loaded with talent. Christian Thomas as an honorable mention was the only Loyola player to register on the MVC all-conference team. Thomas wasn't exactly a hot commodity coming out of Clayton. Porter had to do some coaching this year.
kshoe
Cue the commentary from some that he didn't look good in the 3-4 games he coached when Majerus was sick so he can't be a good coach now. I do think that it's not an accident that our recruiting went to crap around the same time he left the program. There were certainly other major factors such as Majerus' age and declining health, but not having him and Harriman to do the leg work is a major component for how last year occurred. Irishdude
I like Cheney or Harriman as the next coach. I think the chances of Harriman coming back to St Louis one day are very good. The family still follows SLU and loves it here.

Doyle is back for their postseason run and is only a sophomore I believe.

He's only been an assistant for 2 years and probably not as involved with our program as other assistants such as Platt or Tanner. Just because he was a great player doesn't mean he's ready to be a head coach.

It still isn't a roster loaded with talent. It is far less talented than our CBI team roster from a few years back.
Irishdude
-great question Probably for the same reason Danny Manning was thought to be a good coaching candidate with very little experience. Great basketball IQ and Cheney, I believe ultimately will prove to have great recruiting contacts. Maybe he will need to assist a guy like Harriman. Manning was a DOBO for 4 years then and Asst for 6. Cheney has been on a staff for just 3 seasons. He has to put in some more time.

Irishdude
Yes, I am fine with him taking over. I have seen him work with the players before the games and he is very good with them. If MY comes around, Cheney will be the one to do it. I have seen him work with RA with his footwork and back to the basket and the guys knows what he is doing. Dwayne's_World
I wouldn't trust any of our assistants to take over the program, and I suspect none of them will even sniff the HC position. I trust May to make a big hire when Crews is done here

JMM28
Agree Jim Platt taking over this program would be a death sentence. It would never happen though so no need to worry about that.
