kshoe
I thought we would be top 144 but I definitely did not think an NCAA bid was possible. I hope we keep playing well and prove me wrong. Rebounding and 3-point shooting will be crucial moving forward. I still don't think we are good enough for the NCAA. The kool-aid is definitely flowing with the posters that are talking about that. Like many, I just want to win some games, get into the conversation for the NIT and look to see major contributions from the freshmen and sophomores. JMM28
I think a lot of folks were in the "win some we shouldn't lose some we shouldnt" camp. I'd put the InSU game in the we shouldn't have won camp, being a road game and the 2nd game of the season. I'm cautiously optimistic and very excited for the future of the program. NIT is such a small window that I won't be disappointed with that, but would be thrilled by an NIT/CBI consideration if warranted.

Like many, I just want to win some games, get into the conversation for the NIT and look to see major contributions from the freshmen and sophomores. I hope it doesn't go from realistic, relatively low expectations to "wow, we may be pretty good" to all out disappointment if we don't make the big dance. Any post season play would be awesome for this young team. I hope people realize that.
slu72
Pretty sure at least two regular posters on this site agree with not having us in the top 144. Oh boy, now who would those two haters be? Should we ban them?
Taj79
For those two poor bastards that should most definitely be banned form this board (and there were more than two), I believe they were right. They were right in saying they did not believe we would be ranked in Welser's preseason Top 144. And we were not. The debate was not will we eventually be Top 144. It was a statement in the here and now. I remember giving credit to another poster who explained that even in Brad's worst year, we finished Top 150 in a different rating scheme, something called the Pomeroy or something. And I also remember someone pointing out that even in Majerus' worst year, we weren't far out of the Top 150. Again the KenPom I think. Because a rating system based on season long results and analyticals is absolutely equal to a pronostication piece based on paper versus real results. Amazing how perfectly they line up. I'd like to be with those two others guys but I wavered -- I said no Top 144 at first, then reconsidered given who was making the list, then went back to my original thought. But I'll take the banning just the same. banned. For being right --- we were not on Welser's preseason list.

slu72
I originally had us coming in at 90-100 on that projected 144 list. When we didn't come in by 80 is when I said we're not making it at all. Just to set the record straight.
Taj79
My schtick is truth. I said we wouldn't be on it. I flipped against that, then flopped back on it. That is truth. And then --- we still weren't on it. That too is truth, yes? Please change Nicholson's line in "A Few Good Men" to " ... you can't handle the schtick." JMM -- that would have been a prediction .... we won't be in it ..... or we will (when I flipped). Based on nothing except my charm and good looks. Projections are based on trending variations, recent past performances, pros and cons on both sides. For example, I could go back and change my projection for this season based on the euphoria of this two game start but I don't think the sample size will lend itself to a valid, lasting conclusion. Based on what I've seen so far, one could easily project one loss in the OOC season .. on the road at #13 Wichita State. The OOC schedule lends itself to such right now and the only other worthy opponets are at the Fetz.

Also, I am told that banning is not any more realistic than deporting 11 million people. Believe we just need to keep these 2 out of the shadows b/c I don't believe they are criminals or terrorists. In fact, we cannot grant full amnesty to all "Billiken" fans b/c that would only bring back Postcard, Metz, the VCU guys, etc. Instead, the good news is that I understand both have actually been granted a three (3) year administrative reprieve from being banned. cheeseman
I am glad we are 2-0 but it is not like we beat anybody special. Look what happened to SIU last night they were drubbed. ISU has big game coming up so if they win then our win will look better. Our next two games are nothing to shout on the mountain top about should we win ( I expect us to win). Going 4-0 is better than 2-2 but really lets not put the horse before the cart. I am hopefully we continue to do well but reality has to be kept in sight. By the way, I was one who did not think we would be in the top 144 preseason poll and has been pointed out already that that was true. Now where we end at the end of the year - hard to say but as the season unfolds we will know more.
