Per Andy Katz, the A10 Tournament is moving to Brooklyn beginning in 2013!

i can honestly say that considering roy campanella and sandy koufax are no longer playing, there is nothing about brooklyn that interests me in the least. brooklyn. like in fordham brooklyn? we could probably play the games in the fordham gymnasium since my above comments are probably common for most of the a-10 fans. this is an incredible disappointment.

Fordham is in the Bronx.

Brooklyn is getting a nice new arena for the Nets.

I figured a Bohemian like you, Roy, would be thrilled about the move. A chance to visit all your hipster pals in Williamsburg and Park Slope.

I'm actually a little bummed. Boardwalk Empire has me wanting to visit AC, and I don't know if I'll make the tournament this season.

i too am a big empire fan. steve buscemi's greatest work as an actor. loved the scene last night when he was talking to the kid about minding his mom and teachers then he peeled off a $100 bill and left the room.

Did he say the Barclay Center? If so that is a nice coupe for the A10.

That was classic. The only way Nucky knows how to deal with people. I missed the first season when it aired but caught up in the last 6 weeks or so, so I was ready for last night.

Anyway, it has me wanting to visit the AC of today to see the grime and ruins of what it once was.

And I'm just assuming that the A10 Tournament will be at that new arena (the Barclay's Center) in Brooklyn- I'm not sure there's another site there that would host it. http://www.barclayscenter.com/index_site.html

Fordham is in the bronx.

Coming from a person who has never been to either place, I am way more interested in a basketball tournament held in NYC then in Atlantic City. I mean its a BASKETBALL tournament in NYC. Where else in the world would you rather play a basketball torunament.(Maybe MSG but thats still NYC)

Maybe the timing will work out for people to catch games in both tournaments, too. The Garden and the brand-new Barclays Center in one weekend would be some epic basketball watching.

Once again, still assuming it has to be Barclays- are there any other legit basketball venues in Brooklyn?

Yes, it will be at the new Barclay's Center, which is awesome.

+FREAKING+

I am loving this news.

This is an outstanding move on multiple levels.

1. It gets the A-10 more into New York City, the media capital of the world. There are a veritable multitude of things to do in New York City. The Barclay's Center is in the heart of Brooklyn and easily accessible by the New York subway from Manhattan and the hotels, Times Square, the theater district, the Lincoln Center, etc.

2. It gets the A-10 Tournament out of Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, which was a de facto Temple home court.

3. This could very much help the Fordham program. Fordham is talking about playing some regular season games at the Barclay's Center, as it is locked out of the closer (to Fordham) Madison Square Garden by St. John's.

4. New York City is much easier to reach by air than is Atlantic City, with 3 major airports and non-stop flights, without the need to drive from the Philadelphia Airport to Atlantic City.

5. Until the Fordham program rises, although that is coming sooner than you probably think under Coach Pecora, Barclay's Center will be a more neutral court.

6. This will be putting the A-10 brand- and more importantly A-10 schools, such as SLU, right under the lenses of the Big East, and the Catholic Big East (CYO) to boot.

7. This provides more A-10 visibility in the recruiting hotbed of New York City.

Yes! I'll get to hit up Bushwick for some avant-garde photog sessions.

I am probably the only SLU fan who really likes the A-10 Tournament in Atlantic City. Until your team loses, you are on a high with the hopes of the tournament. When you team loses, you go to the casino and gamble for a night and leave.

NYC will be easier to get to though...

It's not that Temple, along with St. Joe's and LaSalle, won't be able to get to Brooklyn; they will be able to easily get to NYC on Amtrak. But I think other schools will be more likely to attend if the tournament is in the new arena in Brooklyn.

I think it's worth a try.

This sounds like a terrific idea to me. Wouldn't SLU be able to offer package deals for us to enjoy the tourney and the Big Apple ? After the Bills win I would like to ride a burro to the bottom of that pothole that Letterman mentions every winter.

Was born in Brooklyn, my family is there, my sister lives in NJ so it would be great for me. Without knowing where the venue exactly is, can't say whether it will be accessible via subway from the City, but I would hope there would be good connections. I only see this as a good.

Open your mind, Roy.

Barclay's Center is going to be connected to about 9 different subway lines and commuter rail (Atlantic Terminal). It will be very easy to get there from Manhattan and a lot of other places. It will be good for me as I can get there several different ways without driving.

i will say i would rather it be in NYC than atlantic City.

but my preference would have been to accomodate the three biggest attendance producers in the conference. saint louis, dayton and xavier. geographically even pittsburgh would be better imo.

i guess it doesnt matter to me personally until at least 2014 as i have two more seasons of going to florida the same week to see my daughter's spring softball games. i return to regular conference attendance in 2014.
