Let’s bring Mardi Gras to SLU then, show them what debauchery truly looks like!

There are a lot of people in the main thread about the situation calling the school out for racism and saying BLM should rally who had negative things to say when BLM was on campus a couple years ago, resulting in the Clock Tower Accords. Tony is not unique. It's hypocritical and opportunistic, but not surprising.

Nothing. It's all a hypothetical about whether a kid kicked out of SLU for a Title IX violation could get into another school.

The SLU case, based at least on what has been posted here as the facts, seems to me to hurt cases where women have really been violated.  If the SLU players committed rape they should be punished to the fullest extent.  I would have thought the PD and St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney would have these guys in custody by now if they committed rape.  This occurred last September right-- I cannot imagine it takes this long for the criminal process to work if there is a criminal action here.  Title IX seems to only punish male participants and the whole concept of revoking consent to actions that have already occurred is some kind of folly.  Also absurd is the now expansion of consent or non consent to being photographed when at the time of the action the parties knew they were being photographed.  No one involved with this mess seems to have an iota of common sense or equal protection. Title IX is inquisition like-- these guys were considered guilty from the get go and now the case is just being contrived to support the original supposition.  There is no innocent until proven guilty, at least not in Title IX.

As long as Tilkowsky's incorrect views are posted here, I will respond when I choose.
The basketball players should be held to the same standard, not a higher standard, as any other student at SLU.  Males should be held to the same standard, not a higher standard, as any other gender at SLU.  The administrators that affect suspensions and expulsions should be held to a higher standard of judgement and discretion, than dumb teenage students.  We expect more out of experienced and supposedly professionally trained persons to be fair to dumb students and not use them as political tools to right perceived injustices conducted by males or student athletes.
Get off your high horse Tilkowsky.

The real interesting part is the claim they were made with their knowledge, just not their consent. To me, if you know you are being filmed having sex and don't object. It is implied consent.

I have to think that with the Terrance Phillips saga just starting to unravel, the chances of Mizzou taking any transfers that were suspended or expelled from another school for Title IX violations is approaching 0%.

You know what is funny, Tilkowsky has been blocked.  I can’t even see his posts, but I bet he is writing some useless, inflammatory, and obnoxious posts.  Am I right?

Lol. More like texting folks not present. Didn’t one of the players arrive late? I’m grasping at straws. Guessing the school never even had access to the player’s phones, aside from the one filming, who probably needed to show the footage to exonerate them all from even worse allegations. Who the hell knows.

I love this analogy. I want to get an Uber and then file a kidnapping charge. Yes, I requested and paid for a ride, but you never even stopped to ask me if it was ok with me that we go.

There is two things that the players involved are equally guilty of that girls are not guilty of.  They were born male and black.

Serious question - are the guys being punished for having group sex? If so, shouldn't the girls receive the same punishment.
The immediate response from most will be 'no, they're suspended/expelled for releasing the video'.
But that can't be correct since only one player released the video, right. So what did the other three do wrong, or how did they act differently than any other participants in the party?

If you're letting people take pictures of you in the bedroom, in today's world you should expect there's a chance they'll end up on line. At the very least, you will know it is plausible. There isn't an 18-22 year old in the middle income and up world who hasn't seen all there is to see in the online porn world - and trust me, a lot of the young men and women enjoy repeating and mimicking what they see. You don't participate in group sex one day and become a self-righteous nun the next. You did the deed, own up.
And if the pictures were taken in full knowledge of the participant, I do not believe sharing is a crime. Send the exact provision, and examples of a case, to convince me otherwise.

At SLU, our biggest rival is our own administration.  I have nothing but pure hatred for them.

The more I think about this the less sense it makes and the worse SLU keeps looking.  When reading the statement SLU put out about informing both parties of the hearing officers decision but the process isn't complete, it made it seem like they were expecting an appeal.  However, as many have posted, they shouldn't have been unless they knew they didn't follow their own policy or for some reason expected new information to pop up in 3 days.  If the punishments are as bad as originally reported and it takes the 10 days or longer, they are saying what these kids did was so bad one can never be on campus again and the other three for a few years but it took us well over 4 months to determine that as these kids walked around among students, had the benefit of traveling and one played and represented the university.  Shoot it would have even taken close to 2 months AFTER they received the final report to determine that.  SLU just looks so bad in this process.

Agree with students but it's a different story with attracting top faculty and research grants.
The problem is with the credentialing of faculty at the new affiliated teaching hospitals that replaced the Tenet owned hospitals, they need to resolve this as soon as possible or it can do irreparable harm to the Med School. Something similar happened here in Atlanta when Tenet pulled out several hospitals here. SLU should never signed a deal with a for-profit hospital chain, for-profit just does not mix well with academic medicine.

I think maybe what you are experiencing the how SLU is viewed on the inside of the admin vs the perception on the outside. Im not doubting some metrics are positive, but there is an undeniable perception of SLU as an underperformer, and an undeniable perception that schools like Creighton are constantly figuring it out while SLU cant get out of its own way. Whether or not you want to admit it, this perception is real, and it matters.

No money goes back to any school from NCAA credits.  That money is plowed back into the athletic department.  If GCU doesn't reinvest in their basketball program.  They won't remain competitive with New Mexico St..
The big money for shareholders is in enrolling students.  A good well funded basketball program attracts students.

Although the Ortiz piece was very interesting, it felt like an embedded PR campaign; PR person pitches journo, journo writes compelling pro-XYZ Company, Inc. piece to groundswell public support. It was like "here's Mike Sorber, he's free over Thanksgiving, save for any Neil Page/Del Griffith moment coming back from Philadelphia. You (Chris May) should probably grab this guy a slice of pumpkin pie and have him over at the House."

I could provide you with a huge list of great players who were bad coaches. And there is not a single former SLU basketball player I would want coaching our team instead of Ford. And speaking of Ford, time will tell but he (a former great player) is now at his 4 th school and I believe he has learned from his prior coaching successes and failures and is a better coach today bc of it. I don’t want to convince a former great player to take up coaching. Prior experience or do not apply.
