    Great post, appreciate the scoop.
I always find it strange when players simultaneously have the confidence that they are NBA material, but also lack the confidence that they can earn minutes at their current program. If Jalen is going to be an NBA player, he can beat out Santos/Foreman/a bunch of freshmen for minutes. Ford seemed perfectly happy to play Jalen big minutes, he was just inconsistent, so it doesn’t appear to be one of those instances where a guy is in the dog house and needs to leave in order to get a fair chance.
I do think he would’ve played an important role on next year’s team, even if he were limited to <20mpg. He honestly could’ve been the starter at the 3 and would’ve gotten a lot of minutes if he worked on his ball handling a bit over the summer. With even incremental improvement he was basically a surefire starter as a senior.
Jalen, we will miss your heart, hustle, and shooting. Best of luck with whatever’s next.

    Keeping it classy, I see...
Edit: After reading about the young man's untimely death on the court I hope multi-millionaires like Pippin and Martin - and all other parents - take a second to remember that this is just a game. High school kids playing a game.

HoosierPal - How are you doing? Thank you for inviting me and telling me about this board.
I am sure all of these recruits were being recruited by IU, Stanford, Notre Dame, Duke, Virginia, UCLA. Those are the school's beat out for these kids signatures.
I would be curious what other schools were recruiting these kids. That would tell a lot about how successful or not they will be.

The article is just a variation of how to funnel money to recruits and/or their families.  Another approach is to hire a distinctively unqualified "asst. coach" and pay that "coach" big bucks (at the very high end of the asst coach scale) when the "coach" brings nothing to the table except a son or two!  Hmmm  😉

This black guy looks like that other black guy! Problematic

No kidding. The guy people are mocking is in CG's Twitter profile pic. They're super tight. And people here are doing exactly what he and CG are complaining about in their Twitter exchange.

I'll ask you directly - comparing white guys is okay then? What if I'm black - can I compare black but not white, or still white but not black? Are Asians fair game?
Your statement, as much as you think it's PC and/or cool, is actually racist.

I don't get it either. I wasn't mocking at all. I liked the tv show, and the kid in the picture has the same mouth and smile as Gary Coleman. That's a neutral statement, not good or bad. A lot of people thought Gary Coleman was cute as a kid. Has PCness gone so far in your world that saying two people resemble each other is a crime? Or is it okay to compare white but not black people (and why in b-ball are white players only compared with other white players - seems racist)? How about Asian, all Asian or only Chinese? What are the rules for comparing looks?
I haven't thought about Coleman in years, and assume his life went horribly wrong due to your comments, but to be honest do not know or care about it. It's called an observation, not a joke or a mocking gesture. In short, relax mate.

I wasn't mocking anybody.  Just made an observation. And why would it be a bad thing to say another guys face looks like Gary Colemans?
I'll drop it since people seem upset about it but that wasn't my intent.
But it's kind of sad that you can't make a comparison anymore without people getting their panties in a bunch.

Getting Matt Bonner and Anthony Bonner confused is almost worse than asking which one of the Van Gundy brothers always cleared their dinner plate growing up.

I'm friends with the "new" Dean - stand up guy, trying hard and with some luck (and donations) will advance the school. At worst, he's steadied the ship.

Hope that doesn't happen.  Lots of kids are run off by new coaches.  They are pushed out because they are not a fit, or the coach needs the scholarship for another player.  Players are used and screwed over enough by coaches and schools already.
Like seeing the players having an advantage for a change, especially those sharp enough to to graduate with eligibility left.

Focusing on the athlete rather than the victim? What were the girls victims of? They organized and planned an orgy. They realized there were pictures/video being taken. Again, how the f..k were they victims? If what we believe to be true is in fact true the girls would deserve a larger punishment than the guys

We should be reading a retraction of Ortiz’s hatchet job article of today, a proper synopsis of the situation, including the fact that Goodwin was neither cited as part of the “sexual assault” by the girls, nor suspended by the school for any sexual misconduct, and a formal apology from the Post editor to the Goodwin family.
This should be on the front page.
I would also expect to see an article on the sports front page, detailing Ortiz’s one week suspension for failure to confirm material facts prior to publishing, and a personal apology from him to the Goodwins.
We try to behave this way here; there is every expectation that the Post holds itself to the highest order to get things right.

It hasn't for some years. Just look at the "success" rate of the draft. It's terrible. The top talent come up through the academies now. Sure, every draft will have some gems but overall the talent level is poor and even top 10 selections are marginal prospects.
