  3. Bills move into a tie for first by scoring 2 in the 9th and 2 in the 10th to take a 5-4 victory and get the sweep over Mason!!
  4. Well I was a Ford supporter who got on the dump Ford train late. One thing I disliked about Ford was his apparent dislike for playing 2 Bigs at the same time. I think that ends with Schertz. I see a lineup of Avila, Swope, Jimerson, Casey or Anya, & Dotzler/Hughes/or PG or CG still to be signed. And would love to see Swope and Jimerson pushed hard this Summer by players hungry for playing time. Needless to say, looks like this team will have a very solid, competitive and sizable rotation this season. Summer workouts should be viciously competitive.
  5. As of yesterday there were 38 open scholarships in the A10. Only Loyola and GW are full. So a lot is still to be determined. But I agree with @wgstl that Loyola has a good portal class. Reynolds is coming back so St. Joe will be good. GW has their young core returning as well as a few nice portal picks. Duquesne has a highly rated portal class also. St. Bonnie has 5 and VCU has 6 open scholarships, so they could make significant additions. VCU had a commit de-commit today. More money from S. Carolina. With significant additions for just about every A10 team, chemistry will be critical.
  6. Loychi had a good portal class, joeys will also be good
  7. Obi’s had a resurrection of sorts at Indy. If Holmes does return I’d see UD as the A10 fave. VCU seems to be hurt by the portal so far. Davidson has made some moves, but who knows. Can you, who studies the A10, give us your thoughts as to who appears to have benefited the most when all the dust settles?
  8. I don’t think the staff was holding out hope for this one, but Newell is off the board.
  9. Dayton's lineup right now is Malachi Smith returning from injury, Javon Bennett, Enoch Cheeks, Posh Alexander, Nate Santos, Isaac Jack, and Zed Key. The first four are point guards and only Cheeks goes over six feet. Long way to go in the Gem City. Holmes does nothing for me. He has little game outside five feet so it's always dunks and putbacks. Sure, he took and made more three pointers this year but he had to do that to offer proof to the NBA he had more. He does not. Obi Toppin had a better exterior game and he's been a mediocre first rounder since drafted. DaRon is going to trade the Step van Bussels and Rocus Jocuis' of the A10 for Karl Anthony Townes, the Joker, Rudy Gobert, and Anthony Davis. Sorry --- I don't think so. Holmes has been the best of the A10 for two or three years but that isn't saying much given the dearth of comparable big men in the conference.
  10. Now I'm offended I'm only here to teach. You can ask the other posters, I'm patient and understanding. Plus it's great to meet a fan of a conference. Especially one like the Missouri Valley. Usually a poster will be a fan of a specific school and mean-spirited posters (not me) would then criticize that poster's school. But you, you're like a unicorn, you must just love Arch Madness so happy no matter who wins. But it's gotta be disappointing on selection Sunday, when the one bid monster gets the MVC yet again! The above is also not irony, it's sarcasm. Still teaching. Please keep coming back for more lessons. That last sentence was irony. Bonus lesson.
  11. Saw Trice had passed in the latest "Universitas." Was a little stunned.
  12. I remember playing a few baseball games against the Paul Fultz "Pros" at The Greens in the late 80s. Probably the first time this Creve Coeur kid saw the famous River Des Peres and the pretzel guy on the corner. A not fond memory of one of the games was playing manning left field and having the ball bounce off my glove and over the fence for a home run.
  13. Yeah but having an intelligent or a quirky character troll from the team you just decimated can be stimulating. Not saying this do-fuss is either yet but it's a young season.
  14. Do you have a point, Sir? Other than the obvious.
  15. If being called a hypocrite is the best defense you have, than I guess I'll take that as a compliment. I guess only time will tell if SLU can make a comeback as impressive as your insults.
  16. I agree he likely is gone. I have seen one mock draft where he is the last pick in round 1, and most mocks have him a second rounder. He has declared for the draft, but he hasn't entered the portal. So he either goes pro or he goes back to Dayton. He has not made any public announcement of his intentions, per David Jablonski the Daily Dayton News Flyer beat writer. But he was fairly quite last season also when he filed for the draft. The one way he could return to Dayton is a not so stellar NBA Combine performance coupled with a substantial NIL package. This year's Draft has been labeled as somewhat weak, so that could enter into the equation. Players have until mid-June to withdraw from the Draft.
  17. I'm going to make an educated guess that Schertz isn't a complete fμcking moron..
  18. Updated: Trey Williams - PG, 6-1, 160 - St. Louis, MO (Vashon) - AAU: SW IL Jets - Twitter: @treywilliamsjr3 Offers: Saint Louis, VCU, Missouri, Ole Miss, Illinois-Chicago, Southeast Missouri, SIU-Edwardsville, Lindenwood, Louisiana-Monroe, Cal State-Fullerton, Jacksonville, Bryant. Interest: DePaul, Northwestern, Texas, Colorado State, Wichita State, Belmont, Murray State, Drake, SIU-Carbondale, Bradley, Illinois State, Evansville, Yale, North Texas, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Southern Indiana, Texas-Arlington, Jacksonville State, Northwestern State. Latest News: Williams had his SLU offer refreshed by the new coaching staff. (5/4/24) Scouting Report: Williams is a high-scoring guard who scores on three levels. He's effective putting it on the floor and getting to the rim, but most dangerous on the perimeter, where he has a quick release and deep range. He moves the ball around well and thrives in transition.
  19. It’s probably pretty obvious at this point based on who they signed that Holmes isn’t coming back.
  20. Possibly but most certainly coached him.
  21. Yes but way more importantly Schertz > Grant > Ford...
  22. Trey Williams was offered by the previous staff but I haven't touched his bio in 6 months so I'll update it when I get a chance and post it here.
  23. All updated with heights, positions and stats as of 5/04/24.

  25. We have to consider a different point of view in this discussion. Let's look at Schertz, he was a kid with not much in terms of an education who started at a very low level in the business of basketball coaching. As it actually is, most famous and well known coaches may have started at a fairly low level and slowly went up the scale. This was the case with Schertz, and Schertz happened to be good so he went up the scale with time. ISU was a very good break for him, and this last season was a breakthrough season for him. There he was, he had developed a winning strategy and could recruit kids seemingly out of obscurity and train them into great players. As it was when the light of recognition and fame shone on him he upgraded and brought with him some of his best players. He now has a much better pay than he had at ISU and is positioning himself to repeat what he did at ISU. The reality of the situation is that if he does at SLU what he did at ISU, he is likely to be nabbed by some of the power schools within a few years and at a better income level. This story is likely to repeat and we, SLU, must expect this to happen. Will Schertz career end at Duke or UConn? Who knows? but it is not an unlikely possibility. You all at ISU should anticipate that your story may well repeat itself at our campus. For our side's point of view, we should enjoy our time with Schertz and understand that his time here will also come to an end when he goes to a better school with a higher salary. So, lets have a joyful time with a really good coach among us, while it lasts.
