  1. Aren't players supposed to improve every year?
  2. St Louis people are notorious wait and see / show me
  3. Each year his recruits are reputed to be the top players. A good coach imo would translate that in 20+ years into more than one championship. The guy is a great recruiter and has proven he can get the talent. He just doesn't turn that around on a regular basis to a result expected. He is the premium version of what Ford was until NiL came to be. Now a good recruiter apparently also has to have the premium checking account to capitalize and build something. Schmooze is no longer good enough. Ironically calipari always had the needed boosters at Memphis and Kentucky to have the cash to close the deal he just didn't have the actual development, practice and game coaching to go with it and never capitalized on the talent consistently as was expected by Kentucky folks. Let's see how he does with Tyson and Walmart money. I'm betting no better.
  4. It's long been my opinion that calipari is a horrible coach. With the awesome talent he's brought in every program he's run, he's only won one national championship
  5. Well we all saw how effective playing basically 8 players was for Ford. I'm sure all the big coaches noticed as well and are now using this bold strategy. Note: blue font
  6. Glad to hear the band arrow is pointing up!
  7. I watch 2 playerS. Jordan Goodwin and Steph Curry. Other than that I never watch NBA. I even will switch channels when Goodwin or Curry come out of the game. My knowledge of anything not Goodwin or Curry comes from what I pick up while watching them or when my grandson and I talk (sadly he adores the NBA and my efforts to get him to watch my favorite sport, baseball, have fell on deaf ears). So I guess I need to put a statement out that my knowledge of NBA basketball is next to nothing do not pay attention to anything I write.
  8. While overall I am not a Slaten fan. That said, I think he is an outstanding interviewer. He's thorough. He will ask the difficult questions as well as give some fun softball stuff. Other than JC Corcoran, imo he is the best interviewer in local media (for the record, other that I interviewing, I don't like JC Corcoran as well. I just think he's good at interviewing) It's a shame both can't get the rest of their jobs right. What they could have been
  9. Hard to comment and appreciate when you can't open it. No use posting such when it's not readable by the post dispatch. If it's that important for us mbm's to read, cut and paste the article please.
  10. wiz, by chance, your computer isnt named "HAL" is it?
  11. It's a done deal. My wife works with Mya's mom. Mya is a billiken
  12. I love imo's. Except for peel, I don't want crust. Peel is the exception. Best pizza crust in the world.
  13. i havent seen it mentioned yet, but it is my understanding mya glanton from Indiana State who went to East Louis High School will transfer to SLU. i believe she has one remaining year of eligibility.
  14. watching indiana state in the NIT, i got the impression shertz was all about scoring and dared his opponent to outscore them. defense was secondary. this is the one aspect of shertz that concerns me. but i remember a billiken club meeting with soderberg where he said, he valued defense first and offense was secondary. this his offense slowed down the pace. i got the impression it was an effort to "rest" his team. i didnt like that at all. before i die, i want to see a billiken team that goes all out on both ends. it can be done. plenty of teams play hard on both ends. remember the Huggins cincy teams in our Conference USA days. our how about shaka's VCU teams playing Havoc defense and their defense would lead to fast break opportunities. of course there was the tark UNLV days, or the Loyola Marymount days. it can be done. and if it comes together, it will be glorious and Chaifetz will become the hottest sports ticket in St. Louis.
