According to an article I just saw on Sporting News website about last night being Nantz last game...Ian Eagle will take over his spot next season. He brought so much more to the telecast and saved us from the torment of Billy Packer. It’s all about personal preferences but I don’t like Kellogg especially on the pre and post shows. Kinda knew that was coming. CBS has continued to move him up on the Sunday slots. It will be Nantz/Romo on the prime time game of the week slot, with the Eagle/Charles Davis special doing the undercard. Harlan and Gumbel round out your play-by-play for this fall. I always thought Nantz had the best month of any man on the planet going from March Madness sites to Augusta…

The historically low ratings come on the heels of Sunday’s women’s national championship setting a new record for most viewers in women’s college basketball history. LSU’s 102–85 victory over Iowa was seen by 9.9 million viewers, with high-profile stars in LSU’s Angel Reese and Iowa’s Caitlin Clark fueling a high-scoring showdown that peaked at 12.6 million people tuning in. ABC for example, will get more viewers than on ESPN. 3) Many casual fans (I am not one of them) tune in to see star power, big names, and good stories. Whether it is a player, team, coach, etc….that’s what moves the needle most. Accessibility, plus star power, moves the needle the most for the masses of casual observers in any sport. This has not come out of no where, believe it or not, the NCAA tournament has suffered from declining viewership for 10 years, while the women’s viewership has been increasing during that same time. mrjoelabs
The other issue was everyone knew Uconn was winning, which would ruin what had been a great tourney that finally could've yielded a mid major champ. Instead Uconn kept it all status quo... The game was decided before the tip
