KSU goes down to FAU!

This is great.  Come on Texas get past Miami this is setting up nicely.  Last interim coach to win it all? 1989 Michigan, Steve Fisher.

Nowell was incredible all tournament. I’m happy FAU won but am disappointed I won’t be able to watch him anymore.

That said he seemed awfully casual bringing the ball up the court on that final play. Seemed like he had zero urgency and took to much time.

Just for a little perspective. FAU was founded in 1964. FAU didn’t have an athletic program until 1979, 44 years later they’re in the final 4. They have an endowment of $240 mm. SLU is over 200 years old, Has had an athletic program for over 100 years. Has an Endowment of $1.88 billion. SLU has never sniffed a final 4, but did win an NIT championship in the 1950’s. What are we doing wrong?

It was 1948.

Loving this tournament.  I'm flying back to Austin 1 April and might just hop in the car to drive to Final 4 in Houston.   Tix were $222 on Seatgeek yesterday.

Who ya got as the favorites?  Gotta be Texas and Zags right?  Texas handled the Zags but that was at home early in the season.   Texas also beat Creighton, and is 1-1 vs KSU..

UConn is the best team remaining and it’s not that close. Excited for this UConn v Zags game though.

So where will Coach May be coaching next season?  It won’t be in Boca Raton. He just got himself a huge raise.

An article I read today suggested it should be at UT. AD's at UT and FAU are brothers. Don't see it happen as Rick Barnes pretty certain has 2 more years on his contract.

Endowments have nothing to do with college athletics Most endowments have restrictions on how the money can be used and athletics isn’t one. If Endowments were important Harvard would be the NCAA champs.

Agreed. Harvards endowment is over 50 billion. Means nothing for their athletics.

The saddest thing as a SLU fan is that we could've made a run in this wide open tourney.   Out of everyone left I think we would compete with all but Uconn and texas.  Uconn is going to walk to another win. They always get lucky when brackets break down. Can't stand them.  Hopefully texas or miami can beat them. If they go to the title game they will beat FAU Creighton or SD State easily

According to SLU’s annual financial report only about 25% of their endowment is restricted.

Saying stuff like this just exposes that you don’t even watch the games.

We beat 3 teams in the tournament big mouth.

We were 3-7 against tournament teams with an average point differential of -7.5.

The highest tournament seed we played was an 8. One of the 8 seeds we played destroyed us by 30 on a neutral floor. We also lost to a 12 seed three times.

2 of the 3 wins were at home. If we played all 10 of those games on a neutral floor, how many do we win? One for sure, maybe one more past that?

If we can only confidently say that we’d beat 1 or 2 tournament teams on our schedule on a neutral court, how in the world could we even have hope for one win, much less a run, in the tournament? Is this Chris May’s burner account?

Restricted like an endowed professorship. General endowment  monies don’t go to athletics . Now if the athletic department wants to set up an endowment that’s a different animal. See T Bone Pickett at Oklahoma .

Yep T Boone was alive and well when Travis Ford had that losing season at OSU and they said Adios Travis. I know we have no money men like T Boone (when he was alive) at SLU so if things go completely South this year for SLU hoops fans will just have to wait and see what happens.

We have Sinquefield money (not Texas oil money but a lot) but he's obsessed with chess and getting rid of income tax. If we could get him invested in MBB, we might have a chance.
