Who stops Warren?

This Barnett bashing is absurd. He frustrates me offensively, but the reason he starts and gets a lot of minutes is because he is probably our best defender of the small forward. Check out the UMass video; he defensively dominated and frustrated a taller, more athletic small forward. Plus, there will most certainly be defense help throughout the game.

Agree, there have been some uncalled for rude comments from so called Billiken fans about one of our athletes giving his best. And IMO he does a decent job on "D", plays smart, and those games where he hits a few 3's are a bonus for us.

Gottcha. I think he will have his chance to take advantage of it then. I think we will rely on length and be in position to rebound rather than double and leave the open guy. We have trouble on the D glass so we need all hands on deck there

At the end of the day, if your guys can keep Jett and Evans in check (regardless of how you choose to defend them), we're probably in trouble. I imagine it's much the same conversation we're having about defending Warren.

We've had a few games where Rob Loe or others have carried us for stretches, but this is the NCAA Tourney. Your big boys have to show up.

On the one hand, I agree. On the other, we've lost. 4 out of 5.

If we're mixing up defenses and sticking with what works come crunch time, I'm cool with that. If the new defense backfires, I hope JC doesn't do the "i'm not changing a thing and I'll let them figure it out" routine.

But also all of our conf losses came to playing a team the second time, and they adjusted obviously way better then we did. Undefeated the first time faced though! Slightly kidding about that but I feel good about these match ups considering its the healthiest we've been for a while.

No doubt in my mind that Warren is a future NBA player, but I have only seen NC State in the game last night, and Xavier was just awful on D. If the Bills are at their best NC State will see a very good D. We must play our game from this point forward to advance. I for one want to beat NC State because of what Coach K had to say about the A-10. If Coach K thinks the A-10 is so undeserving then why doesn't he have Duke play some of us home and home.

If the 3's are a bonus then where did he get the tag of being a "3 point specialist?"

Does Jake call himself a 3 point specialist? Seems pretty stupid to get pissed off at Jake because others mislabeled him. Are you pissed at McBroom?

What I know about # 24 is that he is quick, gets points in fast break easily, he is quick off the floor to take a mid-range jumper, but he also takes in rushed, awkward and contested shots.

We will have to take away the fast break points. Force the more contested 2 pt shots outside of the paint or even better behind the arc. I am not sure Dwayne is quick enough, JB might if he has the game of his life.

I wonder if McCall saying their game plan in stopping Warren is interesting means it is something unconventional like a box and one,

At least NC State fans aren't Memphis fans.

The most annoying POS fanbase I've ever seen.

Well we only had like 24 hours to experience ncst fans, unlike 5 days with Memphis.. so that helps.

Majerus on occasions would run a triangle and two. Crews could be pulling one out of his playbook.

He's seen lots of b and 1 this year and those contested floaters that look awkward are a huge part of his game... definitely not a traditional jumpshooter

you may say thats a career night but alot of those shots are the type he makes

I may get shot down for saying this but, just as a thought, Reggie may be the guy to guard Warren. Reggie is big and muscular and if we limit his work to just guarding this man and getting rebounds he can probably do it, or at least I would hope so. If Reggie gets into foul trouble it would not be a major problem for SLU and work like this would give him the experience he desperately needs to be a factor in the tournament. But what do I know, right?

NC State dudes: How often does your team play a zone defense? (Hoping answer is never)

Enough that if the situation warrants it Gottfried wont hesitate to go to it. It's not a Syracuse quality zone but they have been able to change some games by going to it. I have a feeling that if Tyler Lewis struggles staying in front of your guards we will see it tonight.

I would say our Zone is more out of foul trouble necessity rather than setting it up to take something from the opponent. If we dont get in foul trouble, I would assume we would be in man 80% or more

He looks like a senior who knows how to play ball (on both ends of the court) and score while taking it to the rim. Should be a tough guard for us. How does he do against a lot of size on the interior? We dont go shorter than 6-8 and go up to essentially 2 7ft centers who love to block shots. FYI we also, we have Cat (our freshman PG) who a lot of people say is one of the premier on the ball defenders in the nation, even as a rookie.

I gave this some thought earlier. I think it's gonna be a no strictly due to how much hes played the last 10 games.

Because of his strength he can do well against size. He is built like a pro football player. He isn't afraid to initiate contact which gets him a lot of calls against bigger players. He leads the team in FT attempts. On the downside, he is an awful free throw shooter at 62.3% Barber won't be able to handle him if he is close to 100% healthy. Guy is just too strong and smart for a Barber at this point.

Do the Billikens press much?

And it seems you have plenty of speed but your point total seems low for a team that likes to run. Is that just due to the half court defense forcing the opposition to take time off the clock?

Yeh he looks like a grown man...You have seen NCSU play right? I am wondering if our Turner/Lee wouldn't draw Jett and have our PG on your McCall Jr. Just can't see our PGs being able to deter Jett from doing what he wants with the ball.

I am assuming Turner will get primary draw to try to bother him with length at 6'5"/6'6" but I think cat can deter him by just staying in front and drawing a charge to get him second guessing.
