RUBillsFan
what are you talking about? Bob Staak trades up from X to Wake Forest in 1985 and is replaced by: Pete Gillen who trades up from X to Providence in 1994 and is replaced by: Skip Prosser who trades up from X to Wake Forest in 2001 and is replaced by: Thad Matta who trades up from X to Ohio State in 2004 and is replaced by: Sean Miller who trades up from X to Arizona in 2009. Wikipedia doesn't mention why Staak or Gillen left, so I'm not sure on those circumstances, but the rest left Xavier after being offered the HC position somewhere else. Pretty impressive consecutive run of coaches who all used Xavier as a stepping stone. It remains to be seen if Chris Mack can pull off the same feat. Soderball
When Majerus came here we had a D2 or NAIA calibre team. Very very few of those guys belonged on a D1 bench. Majerus had to build that roster from scratch. from nothing. The past two years, with his players and his system, we have had a team more than (capable) of breaking into the top 25 and sweet 16. We nearly did it last year. Broy and the haters are out of control. I don't even know how to respond to these posts in this thread. Go knit another sweater. Rickma was the bomb. Deal with it. OkieBilliken
Couldn't hold his jock? Please Romar is a great guy, very likeable. At UW he has 6 NCAA apperances in 10 years including 3 Sweet 16s. He has 2 regular season conference championships and 3 Conference Tourney Championships. UW only had 6 winning seasons in the 17 years prior to his arrival. So he can coach a bit too. Romar preached about academics and then didnt give a crap that most of his returning players flunked out as he was on his way out. Romar is scum for how he left the program. Who knows where we would have been if he was still here this season, or without the incident. Quit throwing around the "well he only had 1 tournament win in his 5 years", it's embarrassing. Matta was the head coach at Butler. He had know X connections.
JMM28
Gillen had no X connections either. Prosser left for a year and went to Loyola MD
Quality Is Job 1
Will how this team does this year influence anyone's opinion of the Majerus years? If this team makes the tourney or even gets a win or 2, will you look at that as a Majerus accomplishment? Absolutely! And next year will also be heavily credited to Majerus. JettFlight5
Absolutely! And next year will also be heavily credited to Majerus. And he'll have earned that credit.
