ThreeTimeBilliken
For-DaLove I'm not sure how long you've been a fan billiken, but if you're a student it may not have been that long. I have been an avid fan since I was six years old, and there are many on this board who have been one much, much longer than I have. The team has been stuck, running in place on the treadmill of mediocrity for as long as I have donned the billiken blue. Lisch and Liddell were going to be the saviors, not so much. Then Big Rick came in with his giant waistline and equally giant expectations. We all knew it would be four years before the team got on track, and we were willing to wait. After all, people have been waiting for a long time. But success came a year early and we finished the season this year. When I was little my birthday present was a trip to the CUSA tourney in memphis. During the winter, I live wednesday to saturday to wednesday to saturday. It's sad, I know. Even my parents, season ticket holders, have said I care too much about the team. But all that would be worth it this year, the year we had been waiting for for a while. Instead, Willie and Kwa are no longer enrolled at SLU, our recruiting classes for the next couple years and our team for this coming season appears to be terrible. The new arena will be empty for a couple of seasons. Will RM be able to recruit black kids in the future? who knows. He already is hated by several local AAU coaches and its going to be hard to regain credibility in other parts of the country. It may be time for RM to go. Not everything is his fault, but the fact is he is getting paid $1 million a year and he will have had little success after now what appears to be five years. You, sir, are an idiot. This had nothing to do with RM.

NH
You, sir, are an idiot. This had nothing to do with RM. I didnt say RM did anything wrong, but the fact of the matter is that its his programs, its all falls on him.

BACKHANDtheRICAN
just depends on how long. 1 semester? sucks but we can still handle it. longer? big trouble Wait a minute..when Backhand said on Sunday that players would find out Monday and good chance for 1 semester...everyone jumped on me. NH
You, sir, are an idiot. This had nothing to do with RM. And dont come on here after 68 posts and call me an idiot. You clearly have no understanding of the magnitude of the situation. If RM isn't asked to leave he will probably quit. I doubt he has the patience to wait around for another couple of crappy years. slufan13
I guess they could be re-enrolled for the 2nd semester. That is January 18th or so? No official word on how long yet. They mentioned that it could get very ugly for slu's administration and I agree.
For-DaLove
NH, I'm not doubting your fanhood or anything like that. But the fact remains we haven't been to the Tourney in a while, so honestly how far back can we go? I will agree that this could be a floodgate scenario and Majerus could be gone. I guess time will tell.
BACKHANDtheRICAN
Backhand will be collecting money in a tin can for the lawsuit fund...players v SLU. All proceeds go to their defense attorneys. I hope they stick it to the school.

billiken_roy
i dont see this as a "setback". a plateau or running in place, yes definitely. too vital of cogs to the team to not feel it. however the truth is we are deep. and we have what is supposed to be a stellar freshmen class and a nice high school center on the way. i just dont see us becoming a less than 500 team and stuck at that level for "years". granted ncaa might not be there in 2011 anymore. and mid 20's win season may be lost. but we'll get through it. hell we got through ekker. we can get through this. Kids might transfer. RM might leave. We'll get through it yes, but it ruins a lot of the hope that the new arena, coach built up. You may have been through situations as bleak as this before, my whole billiken fandom was set up for this year. And now thats all over. I'd say this is a pretty significant setback. We just lost the heart and soul of what would likely be an NCAA Tournament team. Kwamain, in particular, is probably the most irreplacable player we had. Westy03
Well if/when Kwamain decides to transfer, some school is going to get a hell of a point guard.

NH
Hwwwhaaaat? We all know RM wasnt in this for the long haul (10 years or something), is he really going to sit around to coach a bad team for two more years. RM has not been able to recruit st. louis kids, by choice or otherwise. It is going to be almost impossible for him to have credibility in certain communities after this incident. I sure as HELL hope we don't run into that team! I thought single digit's in a half was the low point of the Majerus era........WRONG!
