28 games played, and just a few to go (31 scheduled games, 32 minimum with the A10 Tournament).
-Hasahn French is now the all-time leader in blocks for the freshman class, with 53 on the season. He's also now alone in 6th on the all-class season blocks record, and should hit 4th without too much trouble (Vouyoukas is in 4th and 5th, with 57 and 55). He is currently on pace for #7 in freshman rebounding average, at 6.8 per game (he'd be 6th if Goodwin didn't average 7.5 this season). He's already in the top 10 in total rebounds with 184 - he and Goodwin have bumped Winfield and Yarbrough - and should finish 3rd. If his current percentage holds, he'd be 7th in FG percentage with .532, bumping 10th-place Dwayne Evans (.495).
-Jalen Johnson's 3-point percentage has bounced back into the sophomore top 10 (.360 is 10th, he's at .366, which would tie him for 8th). He's close to the total 3-pointers list, with 37 and needing 39. With 15 blocks, he needs three more to tie Evans and Bonner for 10th. His FT percentage is .754, which leave him a little shy of Harry Rogers in 10th (.766).
-Javon Bess' scoring needs to pick up significantly for him to crack the top 10 lists (Bonner is 10th at 15.5 and Bess sits at 13.0 currently, while Kevin Lisch's 453 points are a little out of reach unless he picks it up. He will probably come up short of the steals list, which is a tight bunch - 44 would tie him for 10th, and 49 would put him alone at 5th. He's got 36, so he's got a chance, but needs to get back on his early-season pace to crack it. He also now has a legitimate shot at total rebounds (236 for 10th), currently with 207.
-D.J. Foreman would easily be the all-time leader in FG percentage for juniors, currently at .617 (Tom Frericks is currently tops on the list at .574). This would also be good for 3rd all-time in single-season FG%. It's weird to have the inside track on a #1 spot on one list and have no shot at any other lists, but that's looking like the most likely outcome for him.
-Davell Roby is in the mix for three pointers made, currently at 46; Cobbin is 10th on the senior list, with 52. At .368, he's outside the top 10 for the 3-point percentage list (John Duff is 10th at .401), but he's been streaky and could end up getting there if he gets hot again. He continues to climb the all-time scoring and minutes lists, as well.
-Aaron Hines, Rashed Anthony, and Markos Psimitis are currently not on pace to come within reach of any class records. Anthony has 17 blocks in limited minutes; if he played more, getting to 27 and making the list wouldn't have been much of a challenge for him.

In Minutes per Game he is 11th.

Sort on Conference and then Minutes per Game.  Guess who is 11th?
Total minutes change with number of games played.  You will see SLU, RHI, Dayton and LaSalle have played 15, and the rest 14.  That will change tonight of course.
    You are welcome.

How are you silly f##ks blaming Hines for this game? No one other than French did anything the 2nd half, but you silly f##ks blame Hines.

Many of the Board members are huge supporters of Billiken basketball and large contributors to the program as well. Conran, Sly, Fox, Phoenix, O'Loughlin, Kalsbeek and others attend almost every home game and many go to away games as well. Your implication is way off base.

Frank C interviewed Coach this AM.  I caught the end of it.  A couple of new items, Coach said that DJ Foreman moves without the ball as well as any player he has ever coached.  He said DJ and French have developed a nice connection where they are anticipating DJ's movements, for a French assist.  He commented on French's FT. French makes them in practice.  Yes, he has tweaked French's stroke, but this summer they will spend ample time on it.  Coach said it is all with hand placement and with follow through.  Frank asked and Coach said he probably made 115ish FT's in a row during practices and games.
Team is unique for Ford in that he is emphasizing Offensive Rebounds.  In the past he has been a "get back' offense, but this year he is pushing offensive boards.
He really, really likes Pearson.  Said he would be one of the better ball handlers on this year's SLU team.  His body is finally starting to fill out.  Brings the ball up for Hardin against the press and is at the point on their press.
Frank asked and Coach said yes, he could see Goodwin and Thatch as next year's backcourt.  Said Gordon's best basketball is ahead of him.  (Geez, I hope so.)  Also, yes, he can communicate with Goodwin.
After Coach hung up, Frank ended it with 'there are those who think Gordon will never wear a Billiken uniform'.

They have only kept minutes in 6 of his games.  In those 6 had had averaged 30 minutes per game.  Check out the Game Log.  The stat keepers are not good with minutes.

It was nice of TF to not correct Mizzou Mike Kelly about only playing 6 of 7 scholarship players-an error Kelly made twice.
Not a lot of information-more of a puff piece about how well the team has handled adversity.  One interesting point in the discussion of HF--Ford said he is just about the nicest player he has ever been around.  He recognized DR and JB  for their leadership.
Kelly asked about practice with a reduced number of players and Ford answered a different aspect of practice.  He talked about having a hard practice Friday night when he was sure the players expected just the opposite.  He said he was trying to send the message that they are not changing their approach just because of the lack of bodies and that the coaches expected them to play to WIN not just to compete..
TF said Dayton would be a tough game due to the size of the crowd and the fact that Dayton, better than anyone else in the league, can match our physicality.

Rammer stated that the radio broadcast location at St B is one of the best anywhere.  I found that interesting.  Coach said that they didn't necessarily lay an egg in Olean, they just weren't sharp.  He looked at the tape on Adams, and labeled it as an incredible performance.  'From where he was shooting, when he was shooting, there wasn't much more we could have done."  "Jalen kept us in the game in the second half. He was our offense."  He said the two quick fouls in the LaSalle game, Jalen never got into the flow of the game.
LaSalle is one of the worse match-ups for the Bills in the A10, with them playing small and we play big.  French's 6 blocks were tied for the third most blocks in one game.  [Henderson had 8 in 1979 and Reed 7 in 2009.]  Coach thinks French passes out too much rather than being aggressive at the rim.
Game and a half out of second place.  Looking forward to Rhode Island at St.Bonnie this week.  Everyone except Rhody is playing for seeding.
Earl Austin Jr. talked about the Alumni Weekend and how many are coaching HS in the STL area.  Tatum - CBC, Frazier - Burroughs, (learned defense and cussing from his HS coach), Claggett - SLUH (now a defensive minded coach - he listened to Spoon screaming for better defense 'after he finished playing').  [Claggs took heat from Earl and Rammer on his lack of D at SLU.]  Claggett attends a lot of SLU practices.  Justin Love now coaching at Mascoutah.  John Duff coaches at Nerinx Hall,  Dwayne Polk Asst at Vashon. and Kevin Williams at Saxony Lutheran in Cape. Luke Meyers Asst at Borgia, and Danny Brown at STL College of Pharmacy.   A bunch of the Alum's came to practice on Friday.
Coach is going out recruiting on Wednesday. All the assistants will be out most of the week.  His son's Senior Night is Tuesday at DeSmet.  His daughter's 16th birthday is this week.
Excited about Pearson.  Coach saw him the other night.  6'8" now.  Brings the ball up in traffic.  Sharp passer.  Can really shoot it.  Thatch out month with an ankle injury but back now.  Looked good on Friday.  Gordon's team will make a solid run for another state championship. Likes that all three have experienced winning and know the work needed to win.  Coach says he recruits to a need within his system, rather than just all great athletes.  Talked about recruiting at Campbellsville, in the NAIA.  You had to grab D1 transfers if you wanted to succeed.  You could recruit every day in the NAIA and scout your opponents.
