Mr. Roby has permanently etched his name in the Billiken Record Book.  He sits in 23rd in Career Points Scored, between two other Billiken greats, Conklin and Ferry.  He is 7th in both Career 3's Attempted and 3's Made.  Interestingly he is one ahead of McCall in both categories, and also edged McCall in 3% at 36.5% (17th place) to 35.9% (18th place).  That's good company.
Roby ties Douglass and Heinrich for 10th place in Games Play with 128.  He is 11th in Minutes Played in a Career, one minute behind Billiken Great Claggett.
He also tied Kevin Lisch for minutes played in one season, both with 1068 for 17th on the all time list.
That is one heck of a career Mr. Roby.  What was a memorable moment last night, watching Coach and Roby embrace on the sidelines.

Foot 1 was a redshirt, played last season and foot 2 was this season so it is 3 now.
He played one year at prep, the way it is going he will be 30 when he finally uses up his eligibility.
I am holding on to what happened with Stockard because Elliot blocked shots played inside and shot 3's and finished last season strong.
I am pulling for the young man but in Ford I trust to make the best decision for everyone.

If Welmer's foot holds up I think he can help the team next season.
Stockard had foot problems for two years and has played well for the Bonnies.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out and my opinion is probably wrong about Welmer but I do not think he was a waste.
I understand your point, our biggest need is guard.

    Too wordy.
Just say, “a team leading by 4 or more with less than 30 seconds in the game wins automatically.”

$1.125 million just doesn't buy you as much as it used to.  M. Porter Sr "coaching abilities" were vastly overpriced for the net return.

Last Coach's Show of the Year, March 5
Van Macon there tonight.  No word on where Ford was, but Rammer alluded to recruiting.
Rammer - Lot's of nagging injuries, but nothing specifically discussed.  It's that time of the year.  Every team is tired and beat up.
Coach Macon - Senior Night Game v St. Bonnie.  Offense was stale early and we were settling too much for jump shots.  Teams are now game planning for French, and he isn't used to it.  He is frustrated, but will figure it out.   French got engaged in the second half and stopped worrying about touches, etc, and played much better.  French always smiling, even tempered off the floor.  Sometimes he is too nice on the floor.  He is a very good passer, and learning how to pass out of the double.  French hasn't seen double/triple teams like this before.  Duquesne took away his first pass option with a third defender, causing French to have to figure out passing option #2 quickly.
Macon on Johnson - bothered about not playing well v St. Bonnie.  But has a short memory and kept firing up the shots.  "He is never, not confident about taking a shot."
Macon on the team - edge hasn't been as sharp the past five or six games, even the games we won.  Haven't found that extra gear that there used to be.  Asked by Rammer, did the boast from the resolution of the situation - the cloud was lifted - wear off?  Guys had fed off each other but that edge has been missing.
Macon played golf and hoops in high school (interesting combo.)  HS BBall lost 6 games in three years.  Golf team wasn't very good.  Got started coaching at AAU camps in the summer.  First coached at Adelphi College.  One thing he tries to sell a recruit on is playing for Coach Ford,  who has players in the NBA.   Commitments are not for four years, they are for forty years.  Relationships are developed that last a lifetime.
Macon - senior night was special with Aaron and Davell, whom Mcaon has known for only two years. It has been special being part of their lives and watching them grow.  The whole team walked out onto the floor with Rashed.  Macon had never seen that.  Special.  Hines has gotten tremendously better.  Works hard, is reliable.  Davell has been a huge part of the building of the team.  He is the sounding board for the staff regarding the team.  Talked about balancing Senior Night and the Game that evening.  Senior Night can take over the evening - happened with Rhode Island this year....too much emotion and energy gone before the game started for Rhody.  (Macon knows an Assistant there and talked to him about their game.)  Ford is the first coach Macon has seen doing the senior session after the game.  But Macon likes it better, last item on the night.  Only down side is keeping the fans in the building.  Rammer played Ford's Senior Talk again.  That was special then and great to hear it a second time.
Macon - Team Blue motto was great.  Team texts each other about it and is always talking about Team Blue.  Rebound chain is a big deal, and they fight for it.  "The get pissed."
Michael Wilson - Film Coordinator - will spend 40 or 50 hours on film between now and game time in DC. He explained to Rammer how the Bills ended up 6th.  (Double win against Richmond was our key.) Due to the standings, it was hard to figure out which teams to prepare for before Saturday evening.   Macon said he is not good with computers and Wilson keeps him organized.  Mike has everything set for the coaches.  Tate is scouting Fordham and Bailey has GW for our game.  Macon is looking ahead at Davidson, even though Tate has Davidson when we win.
Macon - preparing for the conference tourney is different than early season two game tourney.  Have to keep the team focused on only one game.
Riley Allen - Strength and Conditioning Coach.  All of the S and C program is focused on March.  Nothing major different this week than other weeks.  Keeping volume down but weights high.  Keep the intensity high but don't want muscle breakdown.  Plan between games, 24 hours later, is hydration (they measure the players on this), 7 to 8 hours sleep, and food - get the calories....steer away from sugars.  Get large pizza after games.  They feed the players something that they won't get themselves, such as rice and fish.  Pregame protein smoothies have been popular this year.  Don't throw in any extra foo-foo stuff, (like they do at Smoothie King).  Just throw in extra fruit and yogurt.
Talked about the camps.  Players will be there working stations.  Coach Ford does demonstrations with the players in the mornings.
    That's a rap.

As always Pistol, excellent recap.  Here are a few others.
Roby is 24th in Career Scoring, and could jump Ferry for 23rd.  He is also 8th in Career 3's Attempted and 8th in 3's Made.  He is 12th in Games Played, two short of the top 10.  He is 13th in Career Minutes Played.
Bess and Roby joined a somewhat exclusive club of 1000 minutes played in a season.  Bess is 10th with 1115 and Roby 22nd, with exactly 1000 minutes for the season. Bess would need 4 more games to top Bonner's record of 1246 minutes.
BTW, I have given Brian some information on the MPG Season list.  I have Bess 5th right now with 35.97,  between Burden's 36.0 and Liddell's 35.82.  Claggett is (maybe) in there at 3rd with 36.18 mpg for '92-93.
  21. HoosierPal liked a post in a topic by Pistol in Class Record Watch - 2017-2018
Here's where we stand at the end of the regular season:
-Hasahn French is the all-time leader in blocks for the freshman class, with 57 on the season. He's also now tied in 4th on the all-class season blocks record, and should have it to himself if he can post another before the season ends. He is currently 6th in freshman rebounding average, at 7.1 per game (he'd be 5th if Goodwin didn't average 7.5 this season). He's already 3rd in total rebounds with 214 and has a chance to tie or pass Roland Gray (2nd, 228) if he gets his average in two more games, or has one game like he did the other night. If his current percentage holds, he'd be 7th in FG percentage with .526, bumping 10th-place Dwayne Evans (.495).
-Jalen Johnson's 3-point percentage (.390) is currently 6th all-time for sophomores. He could still move a little in either direction, but he should be safe on the list unless he puts up multiple consecutive goose eggs in the A10 Tournament. He's 7th on the total 3-pointers list, with 46; with a good game or two, he could move up another spot or two. With 19 blocks, he is now tied for 8th with Matt Baniak and Tommie Liddell. His FT percentage is .763, which leaves him just shy of Harry Rogers in 10th (.766).
-Javon Bess is probably going to come up short on the Junior top 10 scoring lists - Bonner is 10th in average at 15.5 and Bess sits at 13.3 currently, while his 411 points are 42 shy of Kevin Lisch's 453, which isn't out of reach if they go on a run and he's hot. He may also come up short of the steals list, which is a tight bunch - 44 would tie him for 10th, and 49 would put him alone at 5th. He's got 39, so he's got a chance if he plays above his average there. However, he's looking solid for total rebounds, needing 236 for 10th and currently at 229. His 36.0 minutes per game will tie him in 3rd on the all-class season record list if it holds. He is also 10th all-time in minutes played in a season, and could be 7th after the next game, probably 3rd if we get two more games.
-D.J. Foreman will be the all-time leader in FG percentage for juniors, currently at .628 (Tom Frericks is currently tops on the list at .574). This will also be good for 3rd all-time in single-season FG%.
-Davell Roby is close to the senior class three pointers made top 10 list, with 50; Cobbin is 10th on the senior list, with 52. He continues to climb the all-time scoring and minutes lists, as well. He's 24th in all-time scoring, and 70 minutes from the top 10 in total minutes, so he has a chance to reach the latter top-10 list if he plays two more games, and would definitely make it if we play three more.
-Aaron Hines, Rashed Anthony, and Markos Psimitis are currently not on pace to come within reach of any class records. Anthony has 20 blocks in limited minutes; if he played more, getting to 27 and making the senior top-10 blocks list would have been easily within reach.
When the season is over, I'll do a wrap-up thread with everyone's records, including Goodwin.

Really, with having to play Davidson with no rest day, I'd be very happy if we just win our opener against the Slu Sign Guy/Fordham winner.  What a great job by the Magnificent Seven and TF and staff.  With all that has happened, to finish the year at .500+ would be quite an accomplishment.
