No surprise at all.  Parker is the first Billiken since Larry Hughes in 1998 to record back-to-back 30-point games.
Parker also led the NCAA in total points last week with 67.

Perkins 33 points ties him for 24th on the All Time SLU Single 30 Point Game list; tied with Perkins, Mitchell, Love, Burden, Wiley twice, Ferry twice, and McLaughlin.
Only 40 point games are Bonner, Rogers, and Hughes.  It would have been interesting to see if Parker could have topped 40, had he played more than the 18 minutes in the game.

33 points in 18 minutes. That is sincerely good.

    Decent show.
This is the first significant injury Parker has had and he thought he would be back, full load, in the same shape he left.  Parker had asked to sub out of the Dayton game, being gassed.  He was out for 2 1/2 months.  Getting into game shape and relearning the offense and defense has been the focus.  Good on both ends today.  "Give it to Sincere and let's go".
Brad basically did not play at LSU. Something like a total of 27 minutes. At Georgetown he was a sub, roll player, hold the line until the starter came back in. He played more than 20 min only 3 times. At SLU he was on the scout team and then bingo he was supposed to be a major player. This is totally new for him. He has never been the guy before.  Lots of talks between Brad and Coach getting his expectations to line up, and the staff is being patient with him.  Great passer for a big man.  He and Jimerson work the "Yo Yo Two" two man game.  Tried it 10 or 11 times against VCU, but VCU shut it down.
There is opportunity for Thames and Hughes getting more minutes with Dalger gone.  They can get their minutes in different ways.  Both have had injuries that have slowed them down. Thames is hitting 67% from the field and 52% from three.   Thames takes good shots, ones he can make.  (I’m guessing we will go to a 9 man rotation.  We shall see Wednesday.)
Typical Davidson team coming in.  Motion offense hasn't changed. As a team they are hitting 8 three pointers per game in conference play.  PG Huffman is averaging about 16 ppg in conference play. Their 5 shoots 5 threes per game. He has an inside-outside game.

Successful teams come in all shapes and sizes.  The problem isn't the size of the guards.  The problem is the collective skill set of Coach Ford's teams.  You can press with a small team but you need ball hawks.  We are in short supply.  You can counter length with good passing.  We're the worst passing team the conference. You can win on the road but your leaders need to be road warriors.  We don't have that either.
Even if Meadows would have been healthy all season, his career stats say he's not the 5-6 apg guy we need at the position.  Dalger is an effort guy but he's not a ball hawk.  Our underclassmen are probably our best defenders but they are our worst offensive players.  Jimerson and Hargrove's performance in road games make it almost impossible for us to win against good teams in their building.
This season is all about making a run in February when we have some winnable road games.  That's all it's ever been about ever since Parker went down 4 games into the season.  We have too many weaknesses in the roster that can't be masked against good teams.  It's nice that Coach Ford is addressing these weaknesses with recent offers but damn it he should have done a better job of addressing them in the off season.

Good exposure for Patrick with the Olympics just around the corner. He started last season as backup GK for the Crew, took over #1 in March, won the MLS Cup and now rocking on the USMNT.

IF Jimerson returns next year, he should be SLU's all time leading scorer.*** However, I believe it is unlikely he returns as I doubt he would return if Ford is not the coach.
***I understand that his 6 seasons do not compare to every other player's 4 seasons of eligibility, but impressive nonetheless.

Speaking of road splits, I'll we watching the Foul Shot Attempts on this away game.  In the George Mason and Dayton away games, the Bills has a total of 18 FTA, and the opponents 63 FTA.  Do the math, that is 3.5X for the home teams.
For the year, SLU has 366 FTA and all opponents 355 FTA.  Call it even. We've had 9 games at home and 8 not at home.
Dayton doesn't foul much, only 12.9 per game.  George Mason fouls 16.2 per game. The Bills are at 17.9 fouls per game.  So yes, expect the home team to get the favorable whistles in those two contests, but not 3.5X. ( Fouls and FTA aren’t the same but they should correlate somewhat .)
VCU averages 16.8 fouls per game.  So should we expect an even number if FTA?  No, the home team usually prevails.  No problem with that.   I'll accept a 2X.  3.5X is beyond fishy.

Willie the refs called everything on the billikens and the same act committed by Dayton was overlooked.  Big brad and dalger had a lot of under the basket fouls that didn't get called but Holmes sure got those same calls.

Way too early to objectively evaluate Ford's recruits on the current roster. Three-fourths of this team is new, and injuries have sidelined Hughes, Thames and Parker.

Looking at the stats, yes we only took 7 FT.  And Dalger took 6.  Parker took 1.  No one else on the team was fouled during an act of shooting.  Magical defensive effort by the Flyers.

Not saying Zhang didn't do well.  But no Billiken was stopping Holmes in the second half.
Just saying that the replacement, which was criticized on this board, resulted in us pulling closer.  Pretty obvious if your read the game log.  The key bucket was Brea's 3 at the 0:43 mark.  Parker then misses a 3 followed by a Dalger missed 3.  That was the game right there.
And I assume that Holmes' dunk with 5 sec left wasn't garbage time?  Garbage time begins at what, 4.9 seconds?

Thames replaced Zhang at the 5:06 mark with Dayton up 58-47.  This effectively put TJ in the pivot.
Final score was 70-65.  Just sayin.....
