That's basically how we all operated when we were 10 years old and fandom was a lot more fun and carefree back then.  I certainly didn't worry about how Rich Grawer produced whatever results he produced.  I'm not even sure I knew who the coach was back then.  I certainly wasn't making mental progress reports of the athletic director, who I didn't even know existed.
Being an adult has turned most of us into concern trolls.  We stress out endlessly over things we have no control over.  We demonize men that we barely know.  It's unfortunate.  But it happens on every sports message board.  That's the price of testosterone.

They or Ahearn? Huge difference. Maybe “they” know more about guy and have been watching SLU go down the drain the last 10 years like we all have? I didn’t get coaches names who called slu leadership but for arguments sake…your saying if Coach K called and Phil Jackson called SLU and recommended a coach that doesn’t mean anything or you shouldn’t at least talk to the guy? Do you think they make those calls for anyone and risk their reputations or time?

Or would you take a Valley coach with a winning percentage of .584?

thames is hargrove 2.0.   hargrove took the majority of his college career to learn to play basketball.   always a fantastic athlete but the mistakes and learning curve for defense was hard.   thames seems to me to be the same way.   but if he has a big end to his career as hargrove did this year it would be worth it.   but count on it, he is going to drive us crazy for awhile before it clicks.   but man he has some outstanding moments this year.   the kid is a show just like hargrove was.  just got to fix the basketball stuff imo.  he got better as the season went along so give him a real coach that can actually teach, hard telling what he will turn into!

I get what you are saying but the idea is that he was able to recruit those players to Indians State which  is not an easy task.
With better facilities and more money to work with he should be able to recruit better players to SLU.
If he brought his starting 5 plus any possible holdovers that’s a top 4 A10 team. Then you build on the momentum.

So we could lose to Drake again?  Their best players are not good enough.
I guess I may be on an island but Schertz is kind of a blah for me. His best players lost to Drake 2 out of 3 this year. We lost to Drake by a handful after leading by like 20 in the first half. I think we only had like 7 players for that game too, 4 being freshmen.
I don't have the answer, but I fear Schertz might not be it. He's individually impressive and well-spoken but doing well at Lincoln Memorial and Indiana St doesn't necessarily translate to the A10 and better conferences.

Sounds like she’s the best recruiter we’ve had in the past few years.

Also, there could be another pool of candidates emerge soon - P6 coaches getting fired. I know the Ford experience is going to sour some folks, but I would keep an open mind - you never know who might become available over the next few days as team's have their season come to an end.

    Tier 1 - Mack, Wade
Tier 2 - DeVries, Moser, Schertz
If those 5 all say no, then re-evaluate.

There are guys I'd be fine with keeping like Jimerson, Medley, Thames, SVB/Zhang. But none of those are guys I feel any sort of NEED to keep.

All will be immediately eligible, so you will probably see most of the roster enter. I've been told that Jimerson has several reasons to stay and his intention was to stick around regardless of a coaching change. Given his NIL deal, he's probably a good bet to come back. Sincere's injury-plagued season probably limits his NIL possibilities elsewhere, so coming back may be in his best interest. Personally, I'd try to keep Gibby, Sincere, and Ezewiro regardless of the new coach. I would assume Larry will stay.  If we land a developmentally-focused coach I wouldn't mind keeping Cian and Thames.

I agree with this. Frank gives more attention to SLU than anyone else in the market. The over the top Ford cheerleading is ridiculous and annoying, but at the end of the day, I want him talking about SLU.

I'm sorry, but that is what any AD in the country would say.  Pick whomever you think is the best AD in NCAA sports.  That person will publicly support every coach they have up until the day that coach is fired.  Even after the coach is fired, they will say nice things about the coach and that it was a hard decision and so on.  It's just how the business is done.  Submarining your coaches, including the ones on the road to being fired, is not how anyone does it.

It’s wrong to root against a team for which you’ve declared you’re a fan of. Unless you’re a fan of a lousy NFL team and some late season losses will move you up the draft ladder.

There’s no way a land-locked university like Wash U passes up buying a parcel of land adjacent to their main campus. Even if they don’t know what to do with it, pay a premium for it. They are not building more land near your campus ever.

Harris-Stowe is also having enrollment problems. If the State of Missouri decides it’s cheaper to just have the students go to UMSL instead, SLU should buy that land regardless of price. You can figure out what to do with it later.

I may be in the minority, but if we are worrying about days making a difference for hiring a new coach, wouldn't firing May delay the process significantly? Wouldn't we have to find a replacement for May before we could even look for a new coach? I assume it could take awhile to find a replacement for May considering SLU's history with making "timely" hires. Our wish list of coaches may be gone by then. Therefore, I'd be okay with keeping May if he hires the right guy.

I have mixed emotions now about tomorrow’s game.  Hard for me to root against the Billikens though.  GO BILLS!
