Agreed. They want it all and the March Madness $$ have them licking their chops to bag it all. Question is will it be worth as much to a network when you do away with the David v Goliath drama in the tournament? I still think that’s the big draw of the Dance.

Not to be a cynic, but we should wait and see on Okoro whether he’s a Bess. Here’s hoping he is.

What concerns me about the new rules is P5 teams will reduce the number of HS recruits, which, on the surface, appears to be a plus for mids. However, if a mid lands a kid who would have sat on the bench his FR year at a P5 and gets minutes with the mid and does well, the portal allows the P5 to come after him. So, in effect, the Mid Majors become a minor league for the Majors.

I've only seen a small sample of Nick Kramer's play, but I really love about him is: you can just tell how competitive he is. He wants to win. He's the type of kid where you're never going to have to worry about him hustling. He puts in the work on defense, has a good looking shot, but he just looks like he's an elite competitor. And I know this is one of the most cliche college basketball lines ever, but you can't really teach that. You either have it, or you don't. Really excited to watch him at The Fetz!

slu72 got a reaction from billiken_roy in Jimmy Bell Jr. Reported to transfer to Moberly Community College
I was high on Jimmy going into last year. His injury slowed his progress. Then Linssen showed he was very capable at spelling Has. I was thinking Jimmy’s size was unique for the A10, however, he was never as forceful as he should have been.
I’d agree with the majority that Jimmy foresaw lower minutes this year and decided to go where he could play rather than sit. Good luck, Jimmy, the discipline you showed in your weight program could take you a long way. And who knows in these crazy times, he could return.

I think the sleeper team, if you can call them that, is going to be ugh....dare I say it....The Flyers. Grant's a better game coach than many give him credit for, and he's got some potential talent to work with.

I'd like to see us put Bradley on the sched every year. Back in the day, they were out big rival in the MVC. Plus they don't play in a plane hanger any longer with that raised floor.

The weave might be ok for the first trip down the floor, but after that it's pretty much a waste of time. It's the modern day version of 4 corners.

I'm hoping Yurimania is this year's bus driver. Although, I'm semi expecting  JGood's return to the team for a last hurrah season. Sitting here in Charleston, SC I have no basis in fact for having this feeling other than I don't think he's going to like what he hears from the NBA. French is gone gone gone. So, Okoro has an open field. And don't forget Linssen. He was a pleasant surprise last year. That said I hope one of our big 3 is hard at work on a mid range jumper from 10-15 feet, elsewise, we're gonna be too predictable when we toss it inside. Think St. B tourney game if you need proof.
Big factor this year will be keeping everyone focused on it's a team game. We need contributions from everyone and every game. Big or small doesn't matter as long as it results in a W. That means no hero ball, which we saw a lot of post covid. Time to shelve the egos and play solid team basketball, ala Rick's teams. The talent's there. Now it's Travis' job to mold it all into a finely tuned machine.

Such a shame to be be taken from this world at such a young age, with a young growing family, and a bright future doing something he loved. God be with you on your next journey Ford Stuen and with those you left behind way too early. Ford we hardly knew ye, but you will be missed by all those whose lives you touched.

slu72 got a reaction from billiken_roy in O.T. Favorite teams you like, teams you Hate
    For what it's worth:
The only sports I cannot miss is solely Billiken hoops. I don't watch a lot of other college BB games, but will watch parts of some A10 teams just to see how we compare. I'm kind of over pro sports for various reasons, ie politics, no team or fan loyalty, too much showboating.
    That said:
FAVORITE ALL SPORTS TEAM: Billiken hoops
CASUAL INTEREST TEAMS: NY Giants, Red Sox, Celtics, Golf Majors, Clemson FB. I will watch every Giants game when they are on here. As for the rest of "my teams" only if it's a big game, eg playoffs. Free Agency has killed my interest. I fear college sports may be going down the same dark path with the new transfer and player branding rules being considered. I also think that NCAA hoops someday, likely sooner rather than later, will go the way of FB, and that might kill interest in college hoops for a lot of fans. If college hoops loses the David v Goliath theme it will take a lot of drama away from the game, and we folks love our drama.
SPORTS I HAVE 0 INTEREST IN: Soccer, Hockey, Boxing, NASCAR/Auto Racing, Tennis. Soccer is especially boring.
TEAMS i HATE; Philadelphia Eagles with a passion, St. B's and Davidson, because they seem to beat us when they shouldn't, Ohio State, because they cheat bigger than any other school I'm aware of, although there are probably many other schools just like them.

I'm putting my money on JGood making a return to Billiken hoops. At this stage, I don't see the NBA in his future. No offense meant there, just hard cold reality of today's NBA. His chances would be much improved if he was a legit deep threat, but that's not been the case.
