Maria we all want Billiken success. But you have to call ‘em like u see ‘em. Travis Ford has failed us.

Jeesh, I really like Curcic. It seemed like when he was n the court we built leads. Then Ford would hide hm on the bench in the 2nd half.

A position dedicated solely to evaluate active D1 talent with portal eligibility strikes me as a valid and valuable job given today’s landscape of free agency. The pros employ scouting departments to evaluate college and free agent talent, and I’ll wager top schools have folks whose sole job is scouting the ranks of likely portal entrees. Is there anybody on our current staff whose primary job is scouting potential portal targets?

Yeah that’s exciting.Seriously good for them. I cheer any Billiken success but really it’s Men hoops that drives the bus here.

Never Crean. I have a friend who’s an IU fan. He was hated there and failed at UGA. What would make anyone think he can save SLU? Total retread. Weber’s too old. Ahern total unknown. What we need is NIL $$’s and a guy who has done something. I’d look at guys like the UVM coach.

I’ll bet Dusty May at FAU was looked at as an uninspired hire. That’s finding a gem in the rough. Or in other words, a crapshoot. If, big if, we actually fire Ford, we have to get this right. There’s no good reason this program should be languishing at the bottom of the A10.

Top 10 moment, Ford invited my son to practice after the Myrtle Beach trip.  He learned of him getting sick and being hospitalized last summer which would cause him to miss some of the home games this season.   He has been a season ticket holder since he was born (now 13).  Ford walked him around the court after practice and they had a cool chat.

TJ scoring 11 points in 30 (or whatever) seconds and hitting the long buzzer beater has to be an all time Billiken moment.

I’m old. But unless my memory has gone full Biden, this is the second game when Curcic got good minutes we built good leads. Now he sits for the last 5 minutes and gets minimal minutes after he stretched our first half lead. WTF Travis? Play the guy!

He got off to a good start  and then became hypnotized by the crowd, lights and noise and froze....just staring at the crowd.  He did win for cutest baby.   Larry Hughes Sr came over to him after the race and said that was my number ( the Bills onesie he was wearing had Hughes old number on it)...He took pix with Hughes and The Billiken.   He also went over to the broadcast table and high fived Rammer and Earl.  I would say he had a pretty good time plus he is undefeated as a Bills fan.

Here’s what I don’t get about the BOT. No doubt the primary purpose of SLU is to educate. But that’s the primary purpose of every university worth its salt. But SLU is in  competition for applicants with every major college in America. And that’s where athletics come into play. College sports gets just about every school, other than the Ivy’s and a handful of others, more recognition than any area of academic achievements. For example, look at Notre Dame in little old South Bend, IN. How many kids who go there can name one academic or scientific breakthrough that school has made? But ask them what they’re noted for and it’s FOOTBALL! It’s fun to go there for the FOOTBALL! Take Gonzaga, a little known small town school way out in the Far West boondocks. Suddenly they are a great BB school and applications go up and kids from all over the country are applying. The list goes on and on. But SLU had never recognized the importance of athletics as a marketing tool. I don’t get it. You’d think the BOT would be aware of this and put more resources into one of the major marketing tools available and increase the interest in prospective students. Finishing at the bottom of the A10 and not making the dance on a regular basis is doing little to enhance the school’s image.
