We're not Louisville and Mizzou sure is hell is not UK - I don't see that happening. Both of those schools are public institutions as well, perhaps making it easier to apply pressure at the state level. A stunt like that would seem more likely between Mizzou and Mo State, but I don't see that happening either. It's just not that important.

Trey Green looks Swope-ian in the way he plays.

O.T. Pac 12 a Power Conference or Mid Major?
ACE replied to BLIKNS's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
In football, they will pretty much be irrelevant. In basketball, they will likely be a multi-bid league which makes them a "major." In basketball, we're looking at 6 conferences (one of those being the new Pac 12) which you can count on to be multi-bid leagues and every other league typically being a one-bid league. -

Midtown Madness: An Interview with Davell Roby
ACE replied to Podcast Bot's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
I recently saw an interview with new Utah coach Alex Jensen about a variety of topics. He touched briefly about his time with SLU, but I would be interested in hearing a 15-20 minute interview just about his time at SLU. He clearly has a fondness for Majerus, so perhaps he would be agreeable to do it in the offseason. -

A few years ago, I'm saying take the toughest schedule, but in today's college basketball world where it has been made nearly impossible for non P6 schools to earn at large bids, the answer is to have the easiest conference schedule. It offers a better chance at a double bye - thus a better shot at winning the conference tournament, which is essentially now the only path to an NCAA bid. -

This is the reality of just about every non-P6 program now, unless a major change happens, like expanding the NCAA Tourney field.

I think you are really overthinking this idea of CJS "developing" big men. I think it's more of a case of showing a recruit how a big can fit into his system by pointing to Avila. No different than what CJS did on the video of Trey Green. He didn't say he "developed" Swope, he simply pointed to him as an example of how another undersized guard like Green can fit into his system.

I don't think it's the "future" - it's pretty much the present. For Davidson, getting a home game against St. Mary's is excellent and realistically about the best a program like us could hope for in today's environment.
-
I’ve previously said we needed one more big on the roster- some disagreed - glad Schertz agreed with me

I have been an advocate of expansion as the most viable path to get more true mid majors into the Dance, BUT I'm concerned that what is being talked about now wouldn't go far enough and the fact that a P6 conference is driving the discussion is NOT going to be helpful to mid majors. I'm not sure why mid majors aren't beating the drum about this and making sure their voices are heard, and advocating that when the field expands, that some of those invitations to the Dance go to deserving mid majors, as opposed to a 10th place team in a P6 conference. In the end it may not matter, but mid majors should at least go down swinging before being rendered completely obsolete. https://www.si.com/college-basketball/ncaa-tournament-expansion-big-12-discussions-march-madness

It was the second game of the season, on the road and Avila did not play due to injury. Do you think a a P5 school with a NET of 28 would have been forgiven for such a loss under those circumstances? Absolutely, they would have. I seriously doubt ISU losing by 10 would've have changed anything. The Committee would just have another excuse ready.
-
Bingo! Schertz and ISU played Alabama and Michigan State in the non-conference in the season they had a NET 28 and that STILL wasn't good enough to get an at large.

I used to really enjoy following high school recruiting. Unfortunately, those days are gone for me. I now only care about the portal. I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same way. I wish I felt differently.

At least they didn't have the drunk lady who drove off at Bonnie.

Players from the portal are still making commitments. I haven't been as dialed in as when we were shopping - which now seems like quite a while ago. Former Schertz commit Christian Nitu went from Florida State to Washington. He did little his freshman season on a bad FSU team. Bonnies landed a productive forward from TN Tech. Duquesne landed a UT-Martin player who averaged 16 ppg last season. Mason got a kid who played sparingly at Vandy his freshman season, then took a redshirt season at UT this past season.
