BILLIKEN NOTABLES

  • Saint Louis returns to Chaifetz Arena where they are undefeated this season at 6-0.
  • The Billikens are coming off an 81-77 loss at Illinois State on Sunday. SLU fell behind by 22 at one point in the first half and stormed all the way back and were within a possession of the lead late in the game. Robbie Avila led the Bills with 28 points, including 21 in the second half.
  • Gibson Jimerson became SLU's program leader in career points in the San Francisco game, eclipsing Anthony Bonner's previous school record of 1,972 points. • Jimerson is third in the A-10 in scoring (18.5 ppg), first in 3s made per game (3.3) and first in FT% (.923). He is also first in the A-10 and fifth nationally in minutes played per game (36.4).

ABOUT THE TERRIERS

  • Wofford College (Spartanburg, S.C.) enters Wednesday's game with a 4-7 overall record.
  • The Terriers are on a quick turnaround, having just played on Monday night against the College of Charleston (L, 67-77) in Charleston, S.C.
  • Wofford is one of the more veteran-led teams in the SoCon, as they return four starters from a season ago as well as eight total letterwinners. The Terriers are one of just three teams in the nation returning more than 70 percent of production in the five major statistical categories.
  • The Terriers shoot a lot of 3s, as they rank 12th in NCAA Division I  with 30.7 attempts per game.
  • Three players score in double figures for Wofford, led by Corey Tripp's 12.5 ppg. Dillon Bailey (10.2 ppg) is the team's top 3-point shooter with 24 makes.
  • Kyler Filewich is Wofford's top rebounder at 9.3 rpg to go along with his 10.5 ppg. Filewich has posted a SoCon-leading four double-doubles this season. His 3.91 offensive rebounds per game rank seventh in NCAA Division I.
  • Dwight Perry is in his third season as head coach at Wofford. He previously served as an assistant coach at Furman. Perry is a 2010 graduate of the University of Kentucky and spent time on Shaka Smart's staff as a GA at VCU.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Billikens and Terriers are meeting for a second time.
  • The previous meeting was a 66-52 Billiken win on Dec. 14, 2013, at Chaifetz Arena.

  • The annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place at the Billikens' women's and men's basketball games on Wednesday, December 18. SLU women's basketball hosts Valparaiso at 4 p.m., and SLU men's basketball hosts Wofford at 7 p.m.
  • All fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to Chaifetz Arena. At halftime of each game, fans will be prompted to throw their stuffed animals onto the court. All items collected will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis - Herbert Hoover Club.

I thought the Thunder Buddies were playing Winthrop today. Or was it Wyoming? Could be Wabash or Wesleyan. Probably one of them W schools, Chris. Let’s hope we get a W.

After 5 minutes prediction…..

Wofford: 73

Billikens: 6 points, 2 injuries and 1 illness.

Kidding….kind of.

And 3 Swope turnovers.

Looks like we’re playing 4 on 5 as Johnson doesn’t bring much on offense.

I heard Schertz brought the Elf on the Shelf to practice and said if they don't practice defense hard the elf will tell Santa.

Let's see if it pays off.
