Lord Elrond Posted November 1, 2023 Share Posted November 1, 2023 53-29 at the half, I realize this is against a D2 team, but they are passing the eyeball test. On offense they have been going directly for the basket a lot. Kyla McMakin and Julia Martinez look the same as last year. Kennedy Calhoun looks improved running the offense and really bringing energy on defense. Peyton Kennedy looks like a much improved shooter from last year, if she can keep it up she will be great. Camree Clegg has also been hitting 3’s well. Looks like everyone found their way into the game in the first half from the bench. Looks like they will replace Brooke Flowers by getting all forwards rotated in the game and have them play high energy all the time. They look like all of them can play . Again, this is a D2 team they are playing, but again, they are doing what they need to do and are looking good. Clean up the fouls is all I can say, some were ticky-tack by the refs, but not all. She is new at Austin HS after transferring from Royal HS in Brookshire. Combo guard. Stat sheet stuffer. She can really score but routinely puts up triple nickel kind of games. She's listed as 5-9 or 5-10 and is really solid and physical. One scout called her an "army tank on rollerblades" this summer. Gets to the rim, crafty handles, can pull up and shoot. Super competitive and hardworking. Looks like a strong character fit from what I'm finding. Had offers from Seton Hall, SMU, South Florida, Central Florida, SIUC, UTEP, WKU, Liberty, Coastal Carolina, Hawaii, UTSA, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion, New Mexico State, Sam Houston State, UAPB, UC-Riverside, UT-Arlington, Texas Southern, Jacksonville. All of these offers came during calendar year 2023. She entered the year with lower division offers and interest. Late bloomer, stock riser- whatever you want to call her, she blew up fast. Had a huge spring and summer in AAU. Visited St. John's (no offer), Liberty, SMU, others. Looks like she may have committed to Liberty in June and then reopened her recruitment. Third commitment of the 2024 class after Hannah Wallace from Cardinal Ritter and Mia Bergstrom from Saint Viator HS in Arlington Heights, IL.
