Wichita St. Fans

Recommended Posts

I don't want to start an MVC vs A-10 debate because this isn't about conferences. It's about their fans. They are playing in the Maui Inv. and there are hundreds of WSU fans there! They travel unbelievably well and are always wearing bright yellow. I think SLU fans could take a nice lessen from them about wearing school colors and being active during games!

They are a rabid fan base and that is to be commended, but before we condemn SLU fans for not being as rabid, let me ask you this; what the hell else is there to do in Wichita besides going to a Wichita State game? What I mean by that is that the casual sports fan in Wichita (non-alum) is more likely to become more fanatical about the Shockers than the casual sports fan in St. Louis becomes about the Billikens.

Agreed. I'm not condemning the fan base. I just wish people would put on a little billiken blue for games.

the fans who care will wear blue, the ones who don't will wear whatever they want, you are not going to change old habits. What do you mean by being active during the game? Do you want us all to carry a flag or waive a BIG HEAD? GET MORE STUDENTS TO THE GAME. The alumni are supporters of the program including financial and we do what we can to be vocal. WA WA

Woah there eastsidehoe! I mean be loud stand up every once in a while. I admit the crowd was good against Georgia. I feel like the fans don't get into it unless the Billikens do something good. I will admit that there were several times when the Billikens NEEDED a bucket the fans made some noise and I loved it! I just think that people wearing the color of our opponents is TERRIBLE!

No one cares about the big heads. They're kind of funny, but that's about it. Alumni, keep up with the donations to the program, and showing up to games. That means a lot more to our success than pity decorations.

My point was not about big heads or flags. It was about wearing our school colors to games.

I know, and I agree with you. But some of those alum's that don't wear blue are the same ones that allow us to pay for a big name coach and do other stuff. If they keep donating, I'm not going to complain.

I agree, but the admin has no room to screw up after this last fiasco. Their top 50 noise is starting to get a little old.

" I think SLU fans could take a nice lessen from them about wearing school colors and being active during games! "

Do you think traveling to Olean - the Miami of the North - is in the plans? Starting to wonder if any of your "SLU fans", who are so dedicated to the Billikens, will ever make the journey?

I'll even donate my to two ringside tickets to the fans who makes the trip!

Go Brown Indians !!!

The Billikens will make the NCAA Tournament before the Bonnies do.

Johnny - yes, they are court side directly across from the Bonas bench about even with the free throw line. The Country Inn and Suites are right across the street from SBU. Also, its an easy plane ride to Buffalo but the drive to Olean is an hour and a half.

I'm serious if you are, let me know.

Wichita has always had good fans dating back to when the Bills were in the Valley.

Maui yes I can see that- I've been there it is worth the long ride

I've been to St. Thomas for the paradise jam-best water within a reasonable air distance-great tickets UB lost 2 of 3 and we were matched to be in the finals

Cancun at Christmas with Bandaleros sounds great and the all inclusive now includes Banitos shooting it up with automatic weapons, UGH!

Great Alaska too cold?

Careful- they were in the Tournament last in 2000, just like us, and took Kentucky to the wire in double OT. Things change fast in sports, just look at our current season.

By the way, Bonaventure has beaten 3 D-I teams to our 0. We have no right to talk ###### to anyone this year.

As for the trip to Olean, I wanted to go when I lived in Cincy (would have stayed with a buddy in Cleveland, about 3 hours away) but we played up there only once in my 3 years there and it was on a weeknight. I'll get there one of these days- hopefully before Bona makes it back to the Dance.

I'll take those tickets...I have a friend interested in becoming a welder and is looking into going to SBU; conveniently he scheduled a visit during the SLU game...

I very rarely miss a game. I am as vocal as anyone (probably way too vocal for those around me). I support the school and the program financially. However, I typically don't think about wearing blue if I am going out to dinner after the game or going to a bar. Personally, I don't care if everyone wears pink or polka dots as long as they are loud and scream at the refs at every opportunity and the refs give us a LOT of opportunities.

i would like to see the fans get to their feet more during the games. im sure the people on this board are the rare fans who do but as i like up and down the stands during big moments i always see everyone sitting down.

as far as school colors go, id like to see our fans wear blue more, but im fine as long as they are making noise. it really looks stupid though when we try to have a whiteout and you have fans showing up not only in not white, but not even slu blue either. just fans wearing green or red during the whiteout last year really just showed no effort.

It's an easy plane ride from where to Buffalo?

Is there a casino in the County Inn and Suites?
