Billikens.com Facelift Feedback

I have been playing around with a slight redesign for the front page/main site of Billikens.com.  My hope was to have this done by the beginning of the season, but my 9-5 job has been a little busy.  However, as I got closer to the end (I hope), I thought I would ask for feedback before I started moving things over from my sandbox site to the real site.  Sandbox site below.

Looks great, one suggestion....including the most important/visited content on the far left rather than the far right....so message board and most popular posts should come first, since eye reads left to right....by doing so, that content would then also line up better with the first menu item at the top, "message board."

Made this change.  Do you think I should go from listing 3 posts to 2 posts, just so the spacing is a little more consistent?

I did...The logo is now text instead of an image, so I lost the Billiken as a dot.

This is super nitpicky, but the white background is really white.  Even if you just went a tinge grayer, it would be easier on the eyes.  Not much.  Just a bit.

Changed the background.  (have to change the other parts a little more manually) but is this what you are thinking?

Yeah.   It was.  I like it.  It also highlights the individual sections a bit better.

For the sections, do you prefer the white on the grey? Or do you recommend the sections themselves also have a grey background?

I like that they are set off.  I would consider either doing those in the color you current have for the background and then making the background even lighter, or vice versa.

A contrasting color to the background is better, maybe a lighter shade of grey?

Good question....I feel sticking with 3 better implies that these are "trending" posts...and give more options for us to click on initially.

New is always bad.  If you must change, please go back to the parquet floor format David Nark used a hundred years ago.

I like it the way it looks, but I would prefer to have 5 entries in the Latest Message Board Posts column rather than 3.

Really?  I thought I remembered it more as a parquet pattern?  In any case........don't change anything!  I need a new Billikens.com like I need a new iPhone.......not.  Also please change my screen name to The Luddite.......just kidding on that last bit.....

I admittedly was planning to remove this and just have the next game update for each game.  Right, now I am not 100% sure where I would put it with the content I have.  Plus as many can attest, I am not the best at updating it.

Is it possible to have a drop down button not only on the schedule but on latest message board posts?  If so, neither would take up much space but offer quick access to more info.

I like it.  I especially like how you rounded the border for the separate areas of the board.
