Not much to argue with. Did Ponch need two games to determine Howard’s status? I don’t know, but I guess he has it figured out now. We definitely need new players. Only 20 months until the World Cup.

9 windows before WC, and the USMNT needs games vs quality competition. But the UEFA Nations league hurts our chances of getting Euro teams. Perhaps the chance to play a friendly in a WC venue is a good enticement?

Most CONCACAF teams will sit back and not give us the experience we need to prepare.

Will be interesting to see how Poch navigates this perhaps more friendlies in Europe.

If we have to spend a window in Europe, head to Europe. That’s assuming we can get a couple of good opponents to schedule us, but our heading over there seems like the only way to do it

I like hearing the crowd noise but they need to figure out a happy medium because I can't understand the announcers.

I'm looking for you guys in the stands

Where do they sell rain ponchos in this place? I thought I was far enough under the overhang to not get rained on, but I was so wrong…..

A big problem at CITYPARK only the top 8 rows or so covered from the elements. If you go to Children's Mercy Park in KC nearly everyone is covered.

The entire upper bowl is covered.  Or at least I was.  Did wind blow some rain?  A little, but not much.

That’s where I was, lower bowl. I sure thought I’d be covered, but I was wrong. There was a lot of rain blown in, it seemed only the two tops rows of the lower bowl got any protection from the rain at all, I was 3 rows below that. Lesson learned, if there’s any threat of rain at all and you have a lower bowl ticket, bring a rain poncho.  Learn from my mistake.

USMNT roster out for January camp and Venezuela and Costa Rica games. Patrick Schulte is on, one of 4 goalies, others are: Drake Callender, Matt Freeze, and Zack Steffen.

St Louis’s own Tim Ream is on the roster. No Josh Sargent, still recovering from injury. Big surprise though, on the team is St Louis City SC’s Indiana Vassilev.

I'm excited Austin FC signed Brandon Vazquez.

Smart move to bring him back from Liga MX, and it'll pay off in free publicity and hopefully on the pitch.

Hadn't seen that. Seems like a great move.

Driussi is out, back to River Plate, and he's been good, but last season was a letdown. I think they have to mix it up.  Need a new 10 to pair with BV.

Former Billiken Patrick Schulte gets the start in goal for the USMNT today vs Venezuela. Tim Reah on the bench, coach apparently wants to see how the younger players do.

One interesting twist in this, the brave new world of streaming TV. The game was advertised as being on Peacock, but it turns out Peacock is only carrying the Spanish language feed from Telemundo, not the English language feed. Had to shift to Max.  Seriously Peacock, you don’t think people want English in the US?  Rant over.

It’s on TNT

Patrick Schulte got the 3-1 win, clean sheet ruined by a corner kick where none of our defenders thought Venezuela would try to play it off the tallest player on their team.
