Just listened to the ESPN betting podcast:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espnradio/podcast/archive?id=5395837

(Click on the 3/19 episode)

The guest was a professional gambler. There wasn't much about how far SLU will go, but guest and host both like SLU a lot. In fact, the guest said in his mind the Bills are a 2 seed, but got screwed with their draw.

Hey SLU fans. I come in peace and I think I can at least partially attribute NMSU fans' over-sensitivity to your fan-board banter to our experience three years ago with Michigan State's "fans." Dozens of them stormed NMSU's message board prior to our tourney match up and riddled it with insulting racial epithets and, in general, extremely ignorant and demeaning commentary. To all of your credit, to my knowledge not a single SLU fan has done anything like that, though I shamefully cannot say the same thing for all of our fans. In general, NMSU fans tend to be very sensitive to the usual "respect" issues. We've got a final four and five sweet sixteen appearances, yet we're often confused with our arch rival, the UNM Lobos (who have never even advanced so far as a single sweet sixteen in their program history), in the basketball media and by fans.

I certainly feel you have the right to be confident about this game. You won a better league outright. We finished third in a very mediocre basketball league. I get that. But consider this: you are also (I've seen you play) better coached than we are... period. Nevertheless, I have some optimism about our chances in this one. Our big X factors are, not surprisingly, our size and athleticism, which I guarantee all of you will impress the hell out of you when you see your team take the court with us. These elements keep us in every game against all levels of competition and I think they will make us competitive against you as well. We've had guys step up and make big shots for us lately, which was an element that was sorely missing early on this season. Of course, so has SLU, so we'll have to wait to see what happens. Until then, good luck, no injuries, and may the Aggies surprise you! I will definitely take ten points.

Thanks. Very civil. I am worried about your "athleticism." We are not very quick or athletic. Our guards have been overmatched at times by athleticisim.

So a yearly tradition has started a team from a lower conference who is our first round match up says they are more athletic then us. Worked well for Memphis to bad Mitchell was not athletic enough to keep up with them

In Memphis' case, they were right. Big Rick owned Pastner

NM State is the premier destination for skilled athletic basketball players.

Since 2005 you've managed such stellar records as 9-21, 16-13, 16-15 and 12-21 and yet you're suggesting that, by contrast, SLU is a "premier destination" for basketball talent? One tourney win and VCU going to the final four has done that much for your program? Keep talking... :)

WOW, so what if we think Daniel Mullings is better. He is our player so of course we are going to be positive about our team. You people need to get off the crack pipe. already Sheez. It's ridiculous reading this message board. You guys act like a bunch of freaking 1st graders. Grow the hell up.

The real aggies?

Why is a Texas A&M fan getting so upset about this?

It's a free country but for the life of me I see no good reason a fan of a sports team would participate on a message board dedicated to team that is opposing one's team. I enjoy chatting up with like minded fans for my team but only reasons I can see for engaging opponents's message board are all negative. On top of that I've no use for arguing with fans from other teams. I don't want to get from anyone for being a Bill's fan no more than Cards, Blues, or MU for that matter. I enjoy making light of the Tigers on here 'cause we're about the Bills but i would never give folks grief for the love of their team. I think less of any fan who abuses other team's fans than I do of those that don't enjoy team sport fandum at all. Anyone who assaults fan's following their team into "enemy" territory are right down there with the snitches, sex abusers and other lower rung prisoners and should be treated accordingly. Most of this ilk really aren't true sports fans their misfits that are a holes in most other areas too imho.
