Rammer stated that the radio broadcast location at St B is one of the best anywhere.  I found that interesting.  Coach said that they didn't necessarily lay an egg in Olean, they just weren't sharp.  He looked at the tape on Adams, and labeled it as an incredible performance.  'From where he was shooting, when he was shooting, there wasn't much more we could have done."  "Jalen kept us in the game in the second half. He was our offense."  He said the two quick fouls in the LaSalle game, Jalen never got into the flow of the game.
LaSalle is one of the worse match-ups for the Bills in the A10, with them playing small and we play big.  French's 6 blocks were tied for the third most blocks in one game.  [Henderson had 8 in 1979 and Reed 7 in 2009.]  Coach thinks French passes out too much rather than being aggressive at the rim.
Game and a half out of second place.  Looking forward to Rhode Island at St.Bonnie this week.  Everyone except Rhody is playing for seeding.
Earl Austin Jr. talked about the Alumni Weekend and how many are coaching HS in the STL area.  Tatum - CBC, Frazier - Burroughs, (learned defense and cussing from his HS coach), Claggett - SLUH (now a defensive minded coach - he listened to Spoon screaming for better defense 'after he finished playing').  [Claggs took heat from Earl and Rammer on his lack of D at SLU.]  Claggett attends a lot of SLU practices.  Justin Love now coaching at Mascoutah.  John Duff coaches at Nerinx Hall,  Dwayne Polk Asst at Vashon. and Kevin Williams at Saxony Lutheran in Cape. Luke Meyers Asst at Borgia, and Danny Brown at STL College of Pharmacy.   A bunch of the Alum's came to practice on Friday.
Coach is going out recruiting on Wednesday. All the assistants will be out most of the week.  His son's Senior Night is Tuesday at DeSmet.  His daughter's 16th birthday is this week.
Excited about Pearson.  Coach saw him the other night.  6'8" now.  Brings the ball up in traffic.  Sharp passer.  Can really shoot it.  Thatch out month with an ankle injury but back now.  Looked good on Friday.  Gordon's team will make a solid run for another state championship. Likes that all three have experienced winning and know the work needed to win.  Coach says he recruits to a need within his system, rather than just all great athletes.  Talked about recruiting at Campbellsville, in the NAIA.  You had to grab D1 transfers if you wanted to succeed.  You could recruit every day in the NAIA and scout your opponents.

Pistol, there are two more years on the Men's BB website, 81-82 with 73 blocks and 82-83 with 71.  Then there are several years between 83 and 86 with no data.  (Brian is working on this.)
I am also watching total and average rebounds.  I started my tracking in 90-91, and this year's 37.2 rpg would tie the mark of the 1990-91team. The total record in these 28 seasons is 1226, both in 90-91 and 13-14.  We would need 2 or 3 A10 tourney games to best that record.

Adding to Pistol's always detailed recap, here is where our players stand on Career and Single Season (All Classes) Lists.
French his tied with Big Chill for 6th on Single Season Blocks.  He has Ian Vouyoukas in his sights twice, with 55 blocks in 05-06 and 57 blocks in 06-07.  Willie's single season 73 is out there, but French will have to average 3+ blocks per game to reach #1.
Goodwin has tied for 9th with David Burns 80-81 season and Q Dillard's 90-91 season of 52 steals.  To hit Waldman's record 74 steals in 94-95, we are looking at 3+ per game.
Foreman has slipped 0.002 behind Big Chill's 89-90 season for 3rd on the FG% list.  Big Chill's record of 0.646 would take a few perfect nights.  DJ is signficantly clear of Skinner's 4th place of 0.616.
Bess is currently 7th on minutes per game. There are 7 players who averaged in the 35 minute bracket, so Bess moves up or down each game. Javon will end up in the top 10 in minutes played in one season, and depending on how many A10 tourney games plus foul trouble, could top Roland Gray's 2nd place total of 1199.  A longer run would put Bonner's record of 1246 minutes in sight.
For Career numbers, Roby is up to 26th in scoring, 8th in 3's made, 8th in 3's attempted, 14th in minutes played, and tied for 20th with games played.

I've been trying not to overdo the updates here, but with 2 more games played and some milestones reached, not to mention a week between games, I figured it makes sense this week. 26 games in now, so we're in the home stretch. (31 scheduled games, 32 minimum with the A10 Tournament). I reiterate the disclaimer that the below assumes Goodwin plays a full season, as we don't yet know the outcome.
-Jordan Goodwin's 11.5 points per game would put him tied with Roland Gray at 7th on the all-time freshman scoring average list, bumping Cody Ellis, and he's getting close to the total points list, now at 300 and needing 321 to tie Lisch and Yarbrough at the end. Willie Becton is at 3rd, with 376, and that's certainly within reach. If his rebounding average holds, he'd be 3rd on the freshman rebounding average list, just behind Gray's 7.6. He's already 6th in total rebounds (195), just behind Becton's 196, and he should get to 2nd (currently Roland Gray, 228). He's already 3rd in total assists with 103, and he's on pace to beat Kwamain Mitchell's all-time lead of 113 in the next few games. He's going to be very close to first in steals, too - Hughes had 69 and he's currently 2nd with 52. 52 also ties him at 10th on the all-class season steals total. He's got 16 blocks, and he needs 20 to tie Loe in 10th, so that'll be close, too.
-Hasahn French is now tied with Melvin Robinson for first on the freshman blocks list, with 51 on the season. They're tied at 6th on the all-class season blocks record. He is currently on pace for #5 in freshman rebounding average (one lower, if Goodwin bests him, which is likely). He's already in the top 10 in rebounding with 174 - he and Goodwin have bumped Winfield and Yarbrough - and is on pace to be as high as 3rd in total rebounding. If his current percentage holds, he'd be 9th in FG percentage with .517, bumping Dwayne Evans (.495).
-Jalen Johnson's 3-point percentage has bounced back into the sophomore top 10 (.360 is 10th, he's at .375, which would put him 8th). He's close to the total 3-pointers list, with 36 and needing 39. With 15 blocks, he needs three more to tie Evans and Bonner for 10th. His FT percentage is .776, which would put him in 10th, bumping Harry Rogers.
-Javon Bess' scoring needs to pick up significantly for him to crack the top 10 lists (Bonner is 10th at 15.5 and Bess sits at 13.1 currently, while Kevin Lisch's 453 points are a little out of reach unless he picks it up. He should be close to the steals list, which is a tight bunch - 44 would tie him for 10th, and 49 would put him alone at 5th. He's got 32, so he's got a chance, but needs to get back on his early-season pace to crack it. He could also have an outside shot at total rebounds (236 for 10th) if he increases his pace there or if we go on a postseason run, currently with 187.
-D.J. Foreman would easily be the all-time leader in FG percentage for juniors, currently at .630 (Tom Frericks is currently tops on the list at .574). This would also be good for 3rd all-time in single-season FG%. It's weird to have the inside track on a #1 spot on one list and have no shot at any other lists, but that's looking like the most likely outcome for him.
-Davell Roby is in the mix for three pointers made, currently at 42; Cobbin is 10th on the senior list, with 52. At .353, he's outside the top 10 for the 3-point percentage list (John Duff is 10th at .401), but he's been streaky and could end up getting there if he gets hot again. He continues to climb the all-time scoring and minutes lists, as well.
-Aaron Hines, Rashed Anthony, and Markos Psimitis are currently not on pace to come within reach of any class records.

We all agree that the A10 as a whole is down this year.  The A10 has 8 to 9 solid freshman, so the future looks good.
I looked at how the top tier of freshmen are doing in conference games.  Below is where each currently rank in conference games. I cut the list at top 25 for each category.
    Crutcher, Dayton - 25th ppg, 2 FTG%, 15th%, 5th 3FG%, 25th FT%
    French, SLU - 9th rpg, 2nd blg, 10th FG%
    Funk, St. Joseph - 6th 3FG%
    Gilyard, Richmond - 5th apg, 1st, spg
    Golden, Richmond - 15th ppg, 16th rpg, 7th bpg, 19th FG%, 15th FT%
    Goodwin, SLU - 2nd rpg, 12 apg, 13th bpg, 4th spg.
    Grady, Davidson - 9th ppg, 12 FG%, 10th 3FG%, 9th FT%
    Pierre, UMass - 19th ppg, 22nd FG%, 4th 3FG%, 19th FT%

I could have sworn he hit a 3 in the first half. I remember yelling in approval for Hines along with everyone else in the arena.  His McBroom bust out move to break the press was also sweet.  He is not perfect by any stretch, but he is not the stiff many folks on this board make him out to be.

Per Rammer, Hines had the play of the game, the strip of Powell and retaining the ball inbounds.  Great Job Mr. Hines!

Did you see the game? He was out of his mind. One of those was from well past 30 feet as the shot clock expired. Several more were heavily contested. It's one of the best college performances I've ever seen, and probably the best shooting performance. As soon as the ball went up, didn't matter where he was or the circumstances, it was going in and it was going to be a swish. Roby chased him out to 40 feet and fouled him. There was no need for that.
I still think this should have been a competitive game regardless of Adams' performance. We were our own worst enemy on the offensive end. It seemed like every time down the floor, we took horrible shots and attempted impossible passes. We had 9 turnovers at halftime and added 7 more after that, and it could've been worse. We only forced 4 (!) TOs at the other end. Roby and Hines were taking awful shots, JJ was off, and so was Bess. We outrebounded them by 16, which isn't unexpected. We just did everything else poorly.
When one guy is feeling it, you have to be sharp in your overall game. We were the opposite.

Huh?  Larry Hughes is one of the top 3 players EVER to don a Billiken uniform. The other two in the same conversation are Anthony Bonner and Ed Macauley.  Hughes took the Bills, pretty much by himself, to the second round of the NCAA tourney.  Hughes has what is likely an untouchable record of 670 points in a season.  He hit 40 against Marquette and a season high 12 boards against Vandy.  And as you know, was a lottery NBA pick after his single year at SLU.  Kind of hard to have more impact than that.
Not knocking Goodwin who is a very good player, but he has a ways to go to wear Mr. Hughes' shoes.

What is the over / under on the bus picking the team up after the game?

French has cracked the list of top 10 All Class Season Blocks sitting at 9th.  Al Matim is 8th with 44 and again 7th with 46.
Goodwin is tied with Jett for 11th on top 10 All Class Season Steals.  His next steal will tie him with Burns and Dillard for a 9th place tie.
As Pistol reported, Bess possibly won't make the list for any Junior Class Records.  However, he is currently 7th on Average Minutes Played in one Season, All Classes 35.46 mpg.  Bonner's 38.1 mpg record is not attainable, but Perry's 2nd place of 36.2 mpg is possible. On the other end of the list, J Luck, Dobbs and Liddell are all tied for 10th with 35.0 mpg.  Bess should also make the Total Minutes Played, All Classes.  With a minimum of 8 games left, an average of 32 minutes per game would put him in the Top 10.  Goodwin has a lesser shot at both lists, but he is still in play for Top Ten on both lists.
Roby is sitting in 8th with Career 3's made, and tied with Rob Loe for 8th with 3's Attempted.

Coach was on with Frank C.  Frank and Martin wanted to talk about Coach addressing the crowd after the Dayton game.  Coach said he had done that once or twice before.
They asked about not fouling with 14 seconds left in the VCU game.  Coach said 14 was too much time.  If they could have fouled around 7 seconds, they would have.  But it didn't come off.  He apparently called/talked to some other coaches since then and they all agreed 14 seconds was too many.
He talked about how this team has found it's identity in the last two weeks.  They know what they have to do to win.  Frank remarked that this team has widespread talent, with Foreman and Goodwin last week's scoring leaders and Bess and Johnson this weeks.
Yes, they are in regular communication with the three signed recruits.  Pearson is currently 4th in KY high school scoring.
After Coach hung up, Frank said he has recently spoken with Ramey's father.  SLU is not recruiting his son, nor is Missouri.  That seemed strange to Frank and Martin, with the dire need of a PC.
