This will now turn up anytime people do a basic internet background check on these guys. It has permanently hurt the future job prospects and earnings potential.  That seems to me to be an extreme for punishment for three young men who haven’t even been charged with a crime.

So who decided to take an interim measure unlike any other school has when it comes to the players? What SLU has done isn’t in any of the old or new guidance from the DoE. What SLU did isn’t standard operating procedure in Title IX cases. There is no precedent for it.  I have a hard time believing any employee would preceed on something like that without the approval of the President of the institution.

I want a job where I can make 500k+ , a president title, and have, apparently, zero responsibility for anything that happens under my watch. Sounds nice. When tough decisions come up, shift blame, hire outside firms, and make YouTube videos.
A group that hasn’t taken as much heat as it should is the board of trustees. A weak group that hired a weak president.
That same weak president has apparently pissed down a board members leg and told him it’s raining when it comes to his control. And that board member took his umbrella out.
All this while SLU is making front page headlines for sexual assault ONLY because this process has been so terrible from the start. Incredible.

Paid to revive the program? WTF are you talking about? At Cal and Tennessee the coach prior to Cuonzo took the team deeper into the NCAA than Counzo ever did,  Counzo is the guy you hire to stabilize the program when you get in trouble.

Graves is the one guy that can afford to let this play all the way out.  He can sit the whole season and lose no eligibility.  If SLU would end up expelling him, the NCAA would likely grant him immediate eligibility next season at his next stop.  That won’t happen if he transfers at the semester. So for Graves it makes sense for him to force SLU to make a determination.

I think it was a CYC thing.  Anyone who has a kid who participates in CYC athletics could get free tickets for their family.

They are trying to push this off long enough to force the players to transfer.  They lack the balls to make a decision.  I hope the players refuse to settle when they sue SLU.  I really want to see what comes out in a lawsuit.

I think it is becoming pretty clear that there is no justice for young black males at SLU.  The longer this process drags on just makes it clear that SLU could care less how long these unsubstantiated charges hang over these young men.  SLU is not worried about the permanent damage they are doing to these young men’s earning potential and ability to get a job outside basketball.
This isn’t about basketball.  It is about doing what is right and not being part of perpetuating the worst possible racist myth about young black males

You don't think race plays a big part in these cases? Here are a couple paragraphs from a piece a few months in the Atlantic,
I would suggest when you have time you read the whole thing.

SLU proved this out by hiring someone with only experience in the St Louis prosecutors office. The majority of people that office and Anna Kratky prosecuted were young black guys.

I am not sure what Catholic institutions you have been to, but drinking is definitely not frowned upon.  It is only used when administrators want to get a student on something else, but can't.  The school serves beer on campus.  Catholic churches have grade school basketball tournaments where you can buy beer.  Catholic orders have their own wineries and distilleries.  Binge drinking? Sure they have a problem with that.  Just having some drinks?  They don't care as long as you don't do anything that can embarrass the institution or harm someone.
It isn't the drinking itself they are really going after.  They use it to add to your punishment or as way to punish you for something they can't get you on.

There will be people at SLU who will try to do that that.  The funny thing is it won't be the people at SLU who belong to religious orders.  It will be the people that normally laugh at the Catholic Church's teaching on these issues, but they will see this as a way to get a pound of flesh from these guys.
