To heck with #22. We need to go after #5 in blue.  Now that is a true Billiiken.

Not sure if you can call him a forward but Harry Rodgers is an all time Billiken great whether he was on the All Century Team or not.Harry is top 5 all time in my book.

Carteare will be the newcomer of the year in the A10, but I hope he reads this to see that certain writers might be dissing him.  Don't mind seeing A10 teams landing good recruits.

I'm sure Travis will base his rotation on practices and not on player rankings and definitely not on MBM speculations.

I'd go with the G-Men and the T-Man. They're gonna clean up the City!

This may seem like a bit of a stretch today, but I can see where he's coming from. It all depends upon the coaches in each league. If Travis stays at SLU, I can see him building us into a Zaga maybe even a Nova. As for the rest of the two leagues, it's not like the A10 is competing against the SEC or B10. The schools in the league are very similar in size, mission, endowments, facilities, and locations. What the Beast has going for it, besides a red hot Nova program right now, is the big TV contract and a tradition of great hoops. However, a lot of the teams that made the Beast great are gone.
I'd maintain that some of the hot Beast programs in the recent past may be facing tougher futures. Will X be able to continue w/ their next man up coaching tradition? If not they could stumble and take time to recover. If Butler has a few mediocre seasons or continued coaching turnover will they be able to maintain their high level of recruiting? Seton Hall is a relative newcomer to relevance. MU is struggling since Williams left. St. John's is a gem in the rough but can't seem to be mined, much like our own Fordham. GU is going thru a rough transition from the Thompson family. Creighton's hanging in there. They can be compared to Dayton.
My point is there is no reason given all the factors that are pretty much equal and discounting the A10 for the strong Beast tradition that the A10, if it makes the right moves, could be on an equal basis w/ the Beast. Get Loyola of Chicago and drop LaSalle. Or if UMass leaves for the AAC replace them w/ Loyola. Keep Fordham for the NYC market. Just get them to hire a good coach. Dayton and VCU won't struggle for long. They'll make the necessary changes to stay relevant just like we have. Bring in Belmont if they continue to stay strong. Nashville would be a good market.
The schools are not all that different. It's the perception and that could change in a heartbeat.

Hopefully, this team is good and deep enough to where we're blowing out a lot of teams w/ like 5 to 10 minutes to go. That would get our FR some much needed minutes. Still, everything you read about Thatch leads you to believe he may earn around 10mpg during the heat of the battle. Can't wait to see how this all comes together. My guess right now is if Ford goes w/ an 8 man rotation +2, it would look something like this: Goodwin, Bess, French, Gordon, Isabel. Rotation would be Wiley, Santos, and Foreman. The +2 would be Jacobs and Thatch.

I think the guy that's going to surprise everyone is Wiley. Because of his height he can easily back up Bess in addition to giving breathers for Isabel and Goodwin. Gonna be fun watching these guys come together. If they all buy into teamblue and check their egos at the door, watch out!

Why are we looking a gift horse in the mouth? We're always whining about never getting any respect or pub. Well, Rothstein's giving it to us in spades. The guy's probably as "expert" as one can get when it comes to college hoops, and I'm thinking he really thinks the Bills can be one of the bigger surprises of the upcoming season. As Ford says, though, no team's gonna give a hoot how much Rothstein builds us up in July, December, or March we have to earn it. Still, on paper we're looking pretty pretty good, as Larry David would say.

I think we should offer Loyola a buy in or home and home. Call it the Majerus Memorial game. Porter might like that. Not sure how Travis would feel, but he appears to love basketball tradition and can't deny Rick was great for SLU hoops.

Most of us have been ruling out Wellmer because of his chronic foot problems. Not sure how his feet would take the pounding of actual game play. However, if he's indeed healthy, we might have a top 10 front court as he adds another dimension to our bigs, ie the ability to step outside and hit the 3. No doubt we have 4 bangers in Foreman, French, Santos, and Gordon. Not sure if they are the NBA caliber of the front lines of say UK, UNC, or any of the elites. But add  a 6'9" guy who's proved he can defend on the inside and can also step outside to be a long ball threat that's a pretty strong front line. Wellmer won't be needed for 20 mpg given our other 4 inside players, so his foot condition might not be that big a roadblock. If he can give us say 7-10 mpg and still has his 3 pt touch, well, we've got another Big Weapon that will cause match up difficulties.

My guess would be if we put 3 bigs on the floor one of them would be Wellmer, assuming he's healthy and can still hit the long ball. He can cause matchup problems for a team that plays big.

It's Kansas, Cheese. Get out the ol' paint bucket and call Tom Sawyer and friends. That fence will be as white as the driven snow. I have absolutely no faith in the NCAA to do the right thing after the UNC fiasco.
