  1. Past hour
  2. Coach was super candid and Slaten didn't attack him. Slaten can still ask good questions (not softballs) when he is on point. The protest talk was interesting, as well as the discussion about him staying if rules hadn't changed. And stating he doesn't see SLU as a stopover or stepping stone. If he has success we can see if he keeps his word.
  3. Not me - take the money and run - nobody has a crystal ball. Injuries and simply bad luck could have sunk that plan.
  4. Today
  5. He is saying that he likely would have stayed one more year knowing that he had a team returning that had just won more than 30 games. The offers would NOT have been coming in for Kent, Conwell and Swope if they were not allowed to have a second free transfer. It makes sense to me that he would figure it would be better off to stay for one more year and then cash in.
  6. If they ran it back, made the tourney (likely win a few games) he is looking at 1.5-2x that and at a school with a bigger NIL bag. I'll be honest, if I was him, and I had everyone returning and couldn't leave, I'd have to think long and hard about taking the SLU job.
  7. So he expects us to believe that he would have turned down 2 million for 6 years to stay where they were stretching to give him 750K - not buying it. Also there was no assurances that they would have stayed once the offers started coming in.
  8. Actually if he had said no he would have been seen as ducking Slaten. He did now and does not have to go back again and Slaten didn't have any ammo against him yet. I thought it was a wise decision.
  9. Glad the interview turned out ok but I wish someone would have advised him not to go on Slaten’s show. Best case scenario 200-250 60+ year old men hear you on a radio station that has about a 50 mile listening radius. There is no benefit from talking to that man.
  10. His comments about NIL and transfer rules were very interesting. He thinks there needs to be regulation with NIL - it is not at all playing out as NIL was intended. Also, he said that allowing the two-time transfers to sit out a year was a big reason he left ISU - because it opened up the possibility of players who had already transferred once - Kent, Swope and Conwell - to easily leave again. He thinks if that change wasn't made, he likely would still be at ISU.
  11. So the guy who created the infamous Yuri to K-State thread with no source or link is delivering this bit of advice?
  12. NAIA.................seems like a big step down for Mr McKinney
  13. Announcement wasn’t what I’d call humble.
  14. Actually what is happening with the NILs and the transfer portal is that the different schools and conferences are being organized according to the level of money available to them. You may not like the outcome but sure as daylight eventually the top leagues will be at a totally different level that the lesser leagues. They will play for the championship, the lower leagues will have their own competitions.
  15. Discussion with Schertz about the campus protests.
  16. You kind of went off the rails in this Dayton Flyer player discussion, and I had pretty much tuned you out. But wow, you really haven't watched much Pacer basketball, have you. Toppin started 28 games for the Pacers this year. Then they traded for Pascal Siakam, one of the elite power forwards in the league and Toppin went to the second squad. Toppin has been valuable on the Pacer's second team, which if you followed the NBA, you would know is one of the top 5 or so in the league-depends on how you want to measure. (Yes Carlisle brings in 5 guys, so that would be players 6-10. Call him a #10 if you want. Or call him #6.) Toppin averaged 40% from the arc this season. It is hard to dunk from the arc. In the NBA playoffs, coaches shorten their bench. Toppin has been a key member of Carlisle's primary 8 man rotation. He is playing the 4 and 5. He and second team PG TJ McConnell basically put the Bucks away in Game 6. Toppin has a $9.2 million qualifying offer on the table for next season. That's high cotton for a first round bust. You are kind of being rough on Greg Oden. If you forgot, he had three injuries to the same knee in his 3 years of activity. He was only able to play 105 games in his career because of injuries and surgery. A bust to you, but an unfortunate series of events to me.
