  1. Seasons Greetings Billiken Board!!! As the title of the thread hints, it's that time of year to do a bit of shameless self-promotion for the Band. The Billiken Band Online Store has returned for the Christmas Season and is your chance to score some "official" Band schwag. Unfortunately, the hockey jersey is not available this time around again (yes, we know that's a hot item), but there's some nice choices between shirts, shorts, hats, and even a winter beanie (Grant put his on Monday and I must say, it's REALLY nice!) As always, a portion of the proceeds will go back to the Band, so please help support our group by sharing this link with any friends and family that might be interested. You can find the Billiken Band Online Store here: Billiken Band Store If you have any questions, you can post here or contact the website's support for more store-related issues. Also, this is for a limited time, until 10 DEC, so act quickly! We definitely appreciate each and every one of you and the support you show game in and game out! Take care and see ya at the games!!! -Billiken Band
  2. And now AJ Casey gets carried off.....arrrrrrggggh!
  3. And we appreciate the love! Still have a bit to go before we're season-ready, but it was a good rust knock off!
  4. Yeahhhhh... it's tough being a Billiken fan for sure. I was almost certain Coach was gonna be like,"aaaaaaand we're done with this experiment!" Hopefully it's just a mild sprain and he just takes the weekend off to heal.
  5. So, to answer the question, at least from the alumnus perspective, this year went about as well as it could have. The students seemed to have a great time, which was the ultimate goal, and we ended the year on one of the highest points we've had in awhile. I know from my personal conversations with Grant, those who went on the trips and the women's NIT enjoyed themselves IMMENSELY! We did have an end-of-the-year get together at Humps a couple of weekends ago, was well attended, and those who showed certainly enjoyed themselves. Overall, pretty successful year and it was great to see the undergrads get excited and invested in Billiken Basketball, the Band, etc. Now the proof in the pudding will come in the offseason and start of next year. There will obviously be some attrition, whether it's through graduating and moving away, schedule changes, life events, etc., but it seems like we'll be retaining the vast majority of everyone for next year. As for the alumnus that previously left during the mass exodus, time will still tell. Grant would absolutely welcome everyone back with open arms if they want, no questions asked, but it is ultimately a personal decision for each individual to make. In the meantime, I know we'll be doing several administrative days over the summer to gear up for next year, e.g. check on the condition of the instruments, get them fixed, organize everything, and also do a thorough inventory of the music on hand. At the moment, the plan is to open up the repertoire of music to its fullest extent next year, now that we've seasoned a new crop of folks, which should make it just that much more fun! And we're absolutely looking forward to next season now with our new Coach and a revamped team. If there are other Band lurkers, please feel free to express your feelings on how you thought this year went. As a reminder, just be cognizant of the greater audience here. I'll try to post updates as we go through the summer when able. On behalf of Grant, the Band, and myself, thank you all again for the support, and we're soooooo looking forward to getting started next fall and next season!
  6. Thanks! Glad you, and I hope the rest, including Coach did too! It was an alright event. Pretty standard fare, and yeah, the tone in the room wasn't right to ask about his former players coming here...we all in the Band whispered "bring half your old team here" when the question was asked how do you bounce back the team next year. Was a pretty funny moment. Oh, and those in attendance: GibJim and Coach Tate WERE in attendance, in fact they were sitting in the last two seats closest to the Band. Apparently SVB was up in the lower bowl behind the main splay.
  7. I'd argue we need a coach good at both! Not great, just really good. Understands that the offense flows through sound defense. That, and teach ALL of the team to have that killer instinct! Teach these kids you are there to DOMINATE! EVERYONE gives 120%, no slacking. You should be able to win most games given the above mentality I would think.
  8. Hey all. While we did get an email, honestly, I certainly didn't, nor wouldn't, put much thought into this as nothing is ever set in stone. Hell, we're just wrapping up the opening weekend of all the tournies, and look at the DeVries situation, nothing came out until they were DONE. I can assure you all, NOBODY in the Band has ANY inside knowledge of the goings on with the coaching search. If they do, then they either talked with boosters or someone higher up, as it didn't come from within the Band. We all just need to take a breath, and let things just happen. I'm as enthusiastic as the next person to see who the next head coach will be, but they say patience is a virtue. More or less, you will all find out when we do. And no offense to the board here, but internal band emails are things that should NEVER be shared, plain and simple. And opinions of individual band members do NOT reflect those of the Band as a whole. All I know is, I'm enjoying watching some great basketball so far, and will be patiently, but excitedly, waiting for any new heads up for a coaching announcement. Until then, let's just all enjoy the moment(s) of watching some of the blue blood schools be ousted by those "small schools"!
  9. This presser is getting harder to watch as it goes... just say it bro, ya dun!
  10. This board is gonna be hella interesting the next few months...
  11. Likewise. Right before TF sat down for the A10 presser he looked at his phone.... as I got the notification. Wondering if he was getting the same thing? Oofah
  12. Oofah... TF is on the post game for KMOX....
  13. No Pete, you're good. As one of the people who helped do the masters on those albums, you're good to keep using Saints and Fired Up since you aren't making significant profit off of it. But, if the podcast starts making a bajillion dollars, we may have to talk! Or, if said occurs, I suppose y'all can just sponsor the next CD and we can call it even. I actually REALLY like this idea, and I think it can be doable. Hopefully with more time to coordinate and gear up in rehearsal season, we can make this happen. The trick is, from what I heard, is the DJ dude is on loan from the Cardinals and it would be up to his availability to come to rehearsals with his spin deck to figure it all out.
  14. That's now a tie for a half no? Could've sworn it was 9 at the half for us..
  15. Sorry, couldn't pass this up...sit closer, we still win that battle! Some of us, maybe myself, sound like psychotic lunatics, all the while still sober. Is that good or bad?!
