Avila NIL Deal with Chicago White Sox and others

It was pretty hilarious when Happy Joe's on Watson was selling T-shirts that said "I HJs". The heart looked like a pizza. Who doesn't love pizza and HJs? -
I think we've had 5 guys we've heard of visiting that have not committed to SLU: Newell, Manyawu, Turnbull, Sheffield, Hunter. Right? Sheffield & Newell are still uncommitted. Maybe he's only counting guys who have signed with SLU or signed elsewhere? If so, the three "misses" would be Hunter, Manyawu and Turnbull. Or maybe 2 of the 5 reported as visiting never actually made their visits. Or Schertz is not giving exact numbers / using coach speak here. We also know Nick Patton was on campus, but the speculation is that he is a walk-on candidate.

This. Plus Angelo's, Nick & Elena's and OG Faraci's in Ferguson. North County St Louis style is distinct and way better than Imo's St Louis style. -

We talking OG Happy Joe's on Watson that has closed or the imposter out in St. Peters? And, yes, I know it is an national international (holy crap they have Happy Joe's in Egypt) chain, but I feel like the new one doesn't use the cornmeal in the crust and it's just not as good as the Watson one used to be. -

SLU could assemble an entire lineup of local guys that we really wanted at one point, but at this point probably don't want. Lol.

FWIW Swope follows Tandy on Twitter. Swope is from the Evansville, IN area which is about an hour away from Tandy's hometown of Hopkinsville, KY. I can't find on Google if they played on the same AAU team or anything, but presumably they know each other.

I'm not on Trilly's discount, but don't know where the Roddie Anderson stuff is coming from. Best I can tell, nothing on Twitter linking him to SLU and none of the coaches are following him. That being said, I think adding a defensive minded guard makes a lot of sense with our current roster makeup. We know that our 3 likely biggest minute guys (Avila, Swope, Gibson) are more offensive minded players. Thames & Hughes profile as guys who could be good on defense, but that wasn't really the case last season when our team defense was awful. I don't know about Dotzler or McCottry. In any event, adding a guard who can play lock-down defense seems like it could be more beneficial than another scoring guard.

Love entered his name in the NBA draft. I don't think he entered into the transfer portal & his tweet about the draft said he is maintaining his eligibility, but it seems like most expect him to go pro. I've changed my view on Love. He is super streaky and takes too many bad shots, but he would very likely wreak havoc in the A10 regardless. I'd take him in a heartbeat. He was a major contributor to a #2 seed who made the elite eight. He gets a bad rap for UNC failing to meet expectations the year after his hot streak helped carry them on a miracle run to the finals. I don't think he's a chemistry killer.

Agreed. If we got him, he'd have been like the 11th-13th guy for us. Very few minutes, 1 year scholly for a guy who already knew Schertz system & can hit a 3 if you need that. I'd love a team full of guys who are awesome, but that's not realistic.
