Agree-he did a big article on MU basketball in the Sunday PD. Don't they already have a beat writer? Why is he writing on them.

Strauss hates SLU. He also went to VCU. He got all whiny after people jumped on him for not writing SLU columns during the beginning of the winning streak last year, so I guess he wants to get back at SLU fans now.....

Some people don't get Strauss at all. He's a troll but as long as you aren't super-sensitive there's a bit of truth in what he says. For example, his rankings of Missouri basketball teams this year has been very funny.

As for him writing an article on Mizzou, he goes where he's sent by the Post. He's not anti-SLU (unless they are playing VCU) and he's definitely a supporter of the A-10.

People should lighten up.

BS. Strauss said going into last season he couldn't understand why people had VCU rated higher than SLU. Said SLU should have been rated higher and the conference favorite.

But what does he actually report that is of any value to SLU fans? I'm not saying he should be run out of St. Louis, but why are his tweets on the front page of Billikens.com ?

I distinctly remember Strauss getting all defensive last year when people started complaining about the lack of SLU columns. If he supported SLU so much, why didn't he write about the Bills before the top 25 ranking?

Because he writes about the assignments the Post gives him. If you think the Post is going to have him write about college basketball in November and December you are sadly overestimating the general public's interest in college basketball at that time of year. He and Burwell both talked positively about the Billikens constantly on their old radio show.

His tweets aren't that different from some of the stuff posted on here this year (and in previous years really)

This is exactly the problem with Strauss. His opinions (peppered with heavy doses of blatant factual errors) resemble those of a semi-informed message board moron more than that of a professional journalist/analyst. The "Missourah college hoops rankings" tweets are a good example. That was funny the first time or two he posted it, but there are lots of people on here whose writing and insights are more illuminating than Strauss' (and funnier to boot).

The best I could ever say about him is yeah, he did devote column space to SLU when they were doing really well. He ignored them a lot less than he could have. Pretty dim praise, in my view. Other than (maybe) getting some casual basketball fans/general sports fans in St. Louis to read his lip service, I don't think he's ever done much for the program.

The other funny thing about Strauss is just how frequently he has been wrong over the years when he claims to have a big scoop that is about to break or otherwise engages in vague innuendo based on supposed inside info. This has become an accepted part of his persona, and meanwhile Bernie (re: the Mizzou/Haith hiring) is still getting crap about being wrong in one very specific instance several years ago.

It is amazing how many suckers on this board play right into Strauss's hand. His entire shtick is "trolling" targets. He is pro A-10 and had been good to SLU. Sure, he is mocking the program this year, but that is OK. It isn't because he has an anti-SLU agenda, it is because we are bad and an easy target to poke at this year.
