Recap -

- Ford played with Shaq and he was the most dominant player he's been on the court with

- Nesbitt praise - mature body, wants to be great.  Relentlessness reminds Ford of Goodwin

- Okoro praise - Okoro wants to get better, lives in the gym.

- Ford confirms Goodwin definitely gone (which we already knew).  May get a look in the 2nd round and Summer League.

- Javonte - gotten bigger and stronger.  Needs to hit 40% from 3 and be a better defender to play at the next level

- Ford recruiting in Birmingham and Atlanta GA to watch recruits.  He's Happy with where recruiting is.

- Scheduling - thinks its the strongest schedule we've ever had.  Calls Auburn and Memphis top 5 teams in the country.  (huh?).  Drake is gonna be tough with veterans.

- NIL Talk - still trying to understand how to help student athletes.  He's been contacted by companies about certain players.

- Ford Stuen sad talk to end it.

Belmont is coming here to play.

Was this in the Frank interview or somewhere else? I can't find it anywhere.

Just did a little homework on Belmont and this is a really dangerous game. They scored 81.3 PPG last season with no seniors. The only transfer leaving scored 3.1 PPG. They were 13th nationally in scoring, 3rd in 2P%, 4th in APG, 8th in FG, 14th in FG%, they don't turn it over much, they don't foul much, they make FTs at a good clip - super disciplined team that plays as a collective. The top 6 guys average between 9 and 15 PPG.

Only knock is the weak SOS, but teams like Belmont were getting shut out of good games last season with the non-conference schedule scramble. They won the OVC (18-2) and then lost in the conference tournament and didn't get a postseason appearance. They'll be even better this year, even if they take a few more losses early. SLU will need to play its best basketball to win.

I don't think Memphis or Auburn will be top 5, but it wouldn't shock me if either were top 25. Memphis was basically top 30 last year and was the #1 defensive team in the country. They return their 2 best players and also add some bigtime transfers and three 4-star recruits. Auburn wasn't as good last year (60 in Kenpom) but does add a McDonalds All-American, one of the most sought after transfers in Walker Kessler, and a couple of other really good players.

By my count we could play as many as 7 teams with tourney aspirations in the non-con
