Finals are Dec 12 - 18 and Spring classes start Jan 14th. So we will have 7 home games with out a student section.

Don't forget the SIU game which is Thanksgiving weekend and there are probably mid-terms during some of the late February or early March games. Plus, there is probably a rush event or two and intramurals might be on the same night. Plus, its probably cold out in January so they shouldn't be expected to walk down campus. Best case, we should expect 2-3 games from the students.

p.s. sarcasm for those that can't figure it out

I don't understand why students can't go to games during finals. It's a poor excuse if you call yourself a real fan.

The non-conference schedule is pretty bad for a team that is going to care about seeding in March. It does look like we have joined the OVC (but only play the bad teams). All those home games are going to make improving our RPI a challenge. All could work out IF the A-10 has a good year and SLU does well in the conference. It does mean the margin of error is unnecessarily small though. This scheduling is decidedly old school but not in a good way.

When I was in school you could count the number of "real fans" on 2 hands. Ripping the students for not showing up during finals, winter break, vs. sh*t teams... Yawn. Their loss.

Love that the game @ Butler is a Friday night. Perfect.

And interesting point by NextYearBill re: 9pm (11pm STL) tip at Wash, humorous if they did it intentionally as some sort of "payback".

Temple has a Brutal out of conference schedule with Villanova, Duke, Kansas, and Syracuse all on the road.

-Butler's is very solid: at Xavier (previously scheduled); Marquette, UNC/Mississippi State, and another in Maui; Penn, at Indiana, at Vandy.

-Duquesne plays Pitt and West Virginia at the Consol Energy Center and also has Georgetown and Penn State on the road.

-Fordham has 6 games for the Preseason NIT and only 3 non-conference home games; UConn, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Texas State, Ole Miss, and Lehigh are all on the road, with Princeton and St. John's on netural courts. Ouch.

-Richmond plays at Minnesota, Ohio, Kansas, JMU, and ODU; GMU is on a neutral floor, and they have Davidson and Wake Forest at home.

-St. Joe's is in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament, has Villanova and Creighton plus several other road games, and Penn at the Palestra.

-Temple plays at Kent State, Kansas, and Villanova; plays Duke and Syracuse on neutral floors; and has the Gotham Classic.

-VCU has Wichita State, WKU, and Alabama visiting; will have Memphis, Duke or Minnesota, and one more in the Battle for Atlantis; and visits ODU, Winthrop and a couple others.

-Xavier hosts Butler, Kent State, Vandy, and Memphis; goes to the Anaheim Classic; and Purdue, Tennessee, and Wake Forest on the road, plus the Crosstown Shootout on a neutral floor.

The rest of the A10 has decent overall non-conference schedules, with opponents fairly comparable to ours overall. But we have easily the fewest road/neutral games and therefore probably the weakest overall schedule, even if we end up with Kansas.

Really? I always thought the drunk fans were the best fans because they actually made noise.

I think the drunk students don't pay as much attention to the game and are less organized. For non-students, being drunk is good, they get louder. But it seems like the opposite can happen to the student section. Or at least they don't get loud productively. They yell randomly.

In terms of money, not having a Mardi Gras game is a blow. By virtue of being that weekend, we had a pretty good house for a game against FORDHAM last year. No way you get that crowd on a normal date against Fordham.

If we are as good as we think we are going to be, any conference game on a friday or saturday night will be close to a sellout if not a full sellout

Anything worse than 12-2 OOC is a disappointment. They'll do well to replicate last season's 12-4 A10 finish. 11-5 wouldn't be a disaster provided the conference is a strong as advertised. 23-7, plus an appearance in the A10 semis should get them into the dance. They'll probably have to go undefeated OOC and then win the regular season A10 title (finishing no worse than 27-3) to get a top 4 seed.

Yes, they have a slim margin for error, but it's also set up for them to become a national storyline if they can just get to 6-0.
