There is nothing wrong with being a specialist, but Dustin was never a high major prospect, Roth definitely is. He was named MVP at the Adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas last summer. Seems limited athletically and not too quick. If we're able to bring in guys like Thompson, suggs, perry, mitchell then this guy seems out of place. But saying he can do other things isnt quite true from the articles. Sounds like a 3 point specialist to me, but thats not a bad thing especially in a motion type offense. pompeytir Posted May 24, 2007 Share Posted May 24, 2007 What is the difference? I see from a 2 minute clip a kid who needs good teammates to get him the ball. He's shooting over guys who are smaller than him. The speed (and size) is a huge difference for these shooters once they get to college both offensively and defensively. Every college needs 3pt shooters but I'd like to RamJam's offense to see where another set shooter would fit in. Looks like Dustin except for the fact that his start point looks much smoother and his release is probably much quicker than Dustin's. BTW...Dustin tinkered with the initial setup of his shot last season which might have been the reason for so much inaccuracy when he did shoot. All this time I've heard about how Illinois has better prospects than Missouri and this kid is 1st team All-State in Illinois as a junior and people all of a sudden think he isn't that good. Why not say he looks like a Lee Humphrey or Drew Neitzel clone? This is all I have seen of the kid but from what I have heard this is definitely a kid who is worth a look. I am not going to draw too much of an opinion on him based on a clip on the Internet and I definitely think it is ridiculous to say he is nothing more than Maguire based on this clip. The kid is obviously a shooter, but that does not mean he will never surpass Dustin who I don't think I ever saw even draw iron. However, one or two guys like this are absolutely perfect talents to go with the Liddell's, Thompson's, and Sugg's of the world. Tonka Posted May 24, 2007 Share Posted May 24, 2007 From the few clips I saw of DM in high school, I think this kid looks quicker from this one clip. He's got a smooth shot and a quick release. I'm going with V and saying we got to look at this kid. I would like to see more clips of him if they exist. Maybe it was mentioned - how tall is he? Also, if I remember right DM played out of position most of his time in HS. This kid looks to be playing in the right position. I'm agree that he could round out a nice recruiting class.
