He really improved his numbers last year in every possible way. Become a pretty efficient scorer, cut down on the turnover rate, improved his rebounding rate, improved his steal rate and kept a really nice assist rate while being a low usage rate guy. He definitely checks a lot of boxes for what Schertz wants to do offensively.
He was a starter on a 22-11, NET 66 team in a competitive West Coast Conference. I don't see a down side here.
But no he is not the rebounder nor rim protector I believe we still need.

The SLU men's thrilling comeback win vs Mason. The match came down to Castellanos vs Arends, which went 3 sets + a tiebreak.

weird, Mike Sharavjamts apparently interested in SLU. Hadn't heard him connected.

Women play today at 4:30pm in the A10 Semifinal. SLU takes on UMass, one of the few schools beside VCU to win the tournament since arriving in the league. They are the 2 seed. Top seed VCU was bounced in the quarters yesterday by Richmond.
Men won in thrilling comeback fashion today vs General Motors 4-3 in a 3rd set tiebreak in the final match. They take on #1 seed VCU tomorrow at 9am.

VCU women got bounced by 8 seed Duquesne. SLU Women are now the high seed.

Wake me up when they break ground. They've been talking about this since before I was born. What a non story.

The thing about the logo is that when colorized it's not a terrible mark, it's just not a primary mark. It's a secondary logo at best

Coach Schertz System or how I learned to stop worrying and love the long bomb.
This video is a good breakdown of why the system is superior based on Points Points per Possession Triple P not to be confused with Double P. ISU was #13 on KenPom Adj Off. #1? That would be National Champion UCONN. #2? That's Final 4 Alabama. So that's a good metric to measure good teams. Think of it like this if you take 3, 3 point shots and hit 1 you're at 1ppp.
ISU PPP was ranked #7 at 1.159 according to https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/stat/offensive-efficiency
Here's the video:
Watching Indiana State highlights and breakdowns of their play while high is a wild ride.

I’ll state for the record this guy is gonna be really good. Wouldn’t be shocked if he starts. I think too much is being read into him not playing much for Creighton, who were stacked.
Swope, Dotzler, Gibby, Avila, (yet to commit) big. That’s starting five I think. Hughes, Thames first off the bench. Casey first to spell the bigs
This is a vibe. Maybe I have too much admiration for Creighton, but I think this kid is likely going to start for us pretty quickly.

Cam is my #1 because he can play both the 4 and back up 5. or for those who yell positionless, back up Robbie
The relationship really seems stale.

No one on this forum knows the real numbers but our NIL pot has taken a hit with Jimerson, Avila and Swope signings. How many big ticket players can we afford? With the names of two potential recruits floating around this board, it appears we are working on the edges of the pot.
Players not high in their previous school's rotations, or not in the rotation at all, won't command six figure NIL packages.
However much money the programs highest givers want to funnel to key players. The only pot is the BVF but the impact players are going to be guys funded directly by names like Chaifetz, Novelly, Bommarito etc.

Haha exactly, though that would be pretty funny. “Hey Connor, look at all our cool $hit, too bad you’ll never get to enjoy it! Catch ya later”
I do think there could have likely been a conversation around playing time/role that resulted in coach telling him he’s essentially Robbie’s backup and him deciding he’s looking for more.

You ever ask a girl out on a date and then realized that it wasn't going to work out during the date?

Any hints if Schertz passed on Turnbull or if he passed on us. I thought he woulda been a good fit.
Kinda feels like right fit, wrong time. Or lack of playing time.

What is the status of Willard the CA kid who gave us a LOI last year? I also read Schertz was after him for ISU. Has he reneged?

Both have cited the city as well. The great sports town we have, the opportunity in a big place. Sleeping giant!
It offers the best of both worlds. I'ts "big sports city" but it's also small enough to make an impact as a non-professional or "minor league" team

Yeah, I am really excited about adding Avila, but it does seem like adding him and Swope from their starting 5 was the minimum expectation. A lot of the connected folks on here were implying we’d be getting all of them. Ultimately I am pumped with the hire and Avila, so who cares, but what you point out is true. Now let’s see how Schertz builds out the rest of the roster.
We're dealing with 18-21 year olds making decisions in the presence of yearly dollar signs that I don't know if I'll end up reach in my life. Things change on a dime.

2012-14 we were competitive with the Creightons, Butlers, Xaviers of the world. Can’t be overstated how detrimental it was to miss the Big East bus at that time.
I still think there's another bus coming. All the big conferences are getting bigger and bigger. Big East is going to want to try to keep up. They'll look at programs that are doing well and making big commitments to basketball. Or so I'm predicting.

Crews only won 11 games each of last two seasons. And while it was before you were born Ekker was worse than both crews and the end of Ford.
Last season was tougher to stomach, and I was much more emotional about Billiken basketball in 2015-16.

SLU92 is that you?
Clohisy was actually hurt on a slide, not an HBP, should be back relatively quickly. Preston got injured on Saturday but played Sunday. Moore and Neuweg are injured as well.
