Really good read. Makes you realize how lucky we were to have Rick Majerus as our HC even if for only a short time. Too bad Jim Crews didn't glean as much as Porter did out of his time with the Great One. Hope he writes that book.
If Mack leaves for UL, which is a strange situation all of a sudden, I could see X making a move on Porter. Remember Mack's famous quote about Rick after a SLU win over X , "I was playing checkers while he was playing Chess."

I vote this thread be shut down. Wanting to be Loyola can't be viewed as a positive by our team and others who casually peruse the board. We don't want to be Loyola of Chicago, unless you want to play in the MVC and go to the dance every 30 years or so. Yes, I'll tip my Bills cap to Porter and what his team has accomplished. Hell, I hope they win the whole enchilada. It would be great for College hoops. I pray, though,  it doesn't give their 90 year old nun a heart attack if they do pull off a miracle.
In the end we just want to be the Saint Louis Billikens who someday will avoid the self inflicted wounds we've inflicted over the past 50 years or so and become a consistent competitive team every season. Where making the dance is not some pie in the sky dream but a reasonable expectation every season. Once we get in the dance the team plays their hearts out and gets a few lucky breaks along the way. I look at the Majerus years when we made the dance, we never really had an easy road right from the first game, save for NMState. In '12 Memphis came in to the tourney en fuego, but we won. And got the chance to play the #1 seed MSU. In 13 after winning we get a red hot Oregon team that suddenly becomes the best shooting 3 team in the country. In '14 we get an NC State team that's on a roll, but somehow we find a way to win that first game. Next team up the defending champs UL and their pressing D that would wear down a team with a 9 man rotation. But what's discouraging to us is we get these 2 and 3 year runs and then go underground for a stretch. Hopefully, Travis Ford and his staff are going to turn this around and we'll be that every year type of team.
I know this thread was kind of tongue in cheek, but I really think it should be removed. Makes us look like wannabes when all we've really been striving for these many years is our own identity as a solid program year in and year out.  

Not sure what team BillyKen was watching during the two season Coach Dead had his recruits on the floor. Those kids had no idea what they were doing out there.

I'd like to see us put College of Charleston on the schedule. A good lower mid major and SLU fans would travel to Chucktown because the wives would love it.

Looking down the road even further, imagine what this team will be like in two years when JG/French are Juniors and CG/Thatch/Pearson are sophomores..... How about another year when JG/French are Seniors?!  If we can sustain that level of recruiting... Oh man.

As long as Ford stays, I don't think we lose any of his transfers or French. Gordon goes if Goodwin goes? He said he was doing it for the city of St.L. Let's hope he wasn't blowing smoke. If the appeals stick it to Goodwin, who could blame him for kissing off SLU. Will he do it, or will he be like Kwamain and say I'd have to sit out a year either way? Of course, he would be back in a new school and working out w/ his new team.
Losing Goodwin is a gut punch. I just hope whatever the reason was for him playing this year, while the others were suspended, is that he was incidental to the whole deal and on appeal his punishment gets overturned.
Sit 1 blemished Rick's record of no losing seasons as a HC. Also, as stated above, he had plenty of options and didn't need the hassle. Another reason to just love the guy more. I also think his last season was a tough one on him physically, but he didn't take a medical when it probably would have been in his best interests.
As for Travis, I think he's coached his arse off this year both technically and emotionally. No doubt it's been a tough year for him, as I'm sure he believes if he had everyone eligible we had a legit shot at the NCAA. This team is an emotional roller coaster hence the reasons for losing to the likes of Det Mercy and W. Michigan and the blowout at LaSalle. But they've bounced back and given everyone else fits. With the missing parts I really think we would be looking at a team with only 4 losses 5 at the most. I'm sure this gnaws at him as it hurts his overall record, and he's not going to get the credit for completely turning a loser into a dancer in one quick season. Hopefully, he's as strong in character as Rick was and guts it out with SLU.

Read all the links about male students suing their respective colleges, and winning, after they've been labeled a sex offender. If you were a smart devious type, you'd find a willing partner to have sex with and the next day she accuses you of assault. You get suspended, lose the appeal, and then sue. You then split the settlement with your partner. A word of caution;  make sure you're suing a school that has an HO  with a strong anti male bias and an administration that doesn't know it's arse from it's elbow. Anyone know a school that fits the bill?
