BRYANT TAKES LEAVE OF ABSENCE

ST. LOUIS—Saint Louis head men’s basketball coach Brad Soderberg today

announced that senior guard Reggie Bryant (Baltimore, Md. / Calvert

Hall) has been granted an indefinite leave of absence to return home and

tend to a family emergency.

“The information that we have is that Reggie’s brother, George Jr., has

been hospitalized,†Soderberg said. “Reggie flew to Baltimore Wednesday

night to be with his family. Until Reggie informs us of his plans, we

don’t know when he will return to the team. At this point, our prayers

are with Reggie and his family.â€

Bryant is the Billikens’ leading scorer at 13.8 points per game. He did

not travel with the Billikens to Wednesday’s game at South Florida,

because he was ill with a stomach virus.

The Billikens host Charlotte at Savvis Center tomorrow night at 7:30

p.m.

Bauman, I don't know if you meant the tone of your statement, but when your sibling is shot and in critical condition back home, you just go home. The coaches and team understand that Reggie is needed with his family, and that is the ONLY story.

When my dad passed, I told my boss, took a week off, and the next time they saw and heard from me was a week later. They showed some class by sending flowers and paying a respect call, but noone expected me to call them with any sort of update.

We all wish Reggie and his family peace, and pray that his brother can pass this trial and regain his full health. Peace and love their way...

My heart goes out to Reggie and the entire Bryant family. What a horrilble thing to happen. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, and as Coach Soderberg indicated, this is far more important than what is going on with the team.
